I recently started getting into the Putumayo series after I heard the Paris compilation. I was immediately hooked and now have started checking out the other cds in the series. MUSIC FROM THE COFFEE LANDS is my latest acquisition. While MUSIC FROM THE COFFEE LANDS may not be my favorite compilation, I certainly enjoyed listening to its international flavor. Most of the songs are latin based but there are a track here and there that are African and even Hawaiian. As I sit here typing my review while drinking a cup of joe and listening to this cd, I am imaging myself in a field picking coffee beans. I find the music very soothing tp the human soul. Fantastic music! I fell in love with this combination of Spanish & Middle Eastern acoustic guitar when I strolled into a beautiful shop in LaJolla, CA... I asked right away WHAT is this music? I bought the CD ten years ago and listen to it almost EVERY DAY! It is soothing, invigorating, lively music full of lovely melodies I can't get enough of. I have since purchased other CDs by this duo (e.g., The Americas), but prefer the "Heat of the Sun" over the others. Enjoy.

People associate New Age music with synth-heavy,repetitive tunes a la Yanni&Enya.Not so with this album. It's too bad that it's currently out of print and no longer in Putumayo's catalogue.It's also proof you CAN judge a CD by its cover.It has beautiful album art to match its beautiful music.

This is a soothing CD,perfect for meditation,yoga,relaxation.This is also one of Putumayo's best.

Highlights-
1)Midal-An unusual,hypnotic song from Papua New Guinea.Very primal and lovely.
2)Mais Filhos de Gandhi-A brilliant combination of Indian classical music with Brazilian bossa nova.It's from the great album "Bossa Nova Delhi."
3)Makola-A lovely song from Guinea.Very bluesy.

this is my type of thing here. if you appreciate great music period, then you will enjoy this wonderful collections from limon, a province of costa rica. i just close my eyes to this and just enjoy. my favorite joint on here is TREMBLING. i am a sucka for that type of calypso.
