After catching Electric Feel and Time To Pretend on Yahoo's Launchcast and their videos on Youtube.com I bought their album. The album is pretty diverse in regards to listen-ability. Some songs jump right off the disc on the first play and others have to be revisited to be really appreciated. I am impressed how many great tracks there are on MGMT's rookie release. Usually with new bands the album comes with a radio release single and the rest of the songs are crap. MGMT on the other hand has put together a solid first album. I'm at a loss to say what MGMT comparably sounds like. Style-wise they are either a rock band that isn't afraid to go experimental or an experimental band that isn't afraid to rock. In either event they bring some ... Read More:

This is not usually my type of music its slightly too poppy for me but going on a recommendation from a friend i picked up a copy. I actually think its pretty good. A few tracks stand out but the rest are by no means weak. I'm reminded of peaches or the kills but with a more poppy side. They get an extra star from being from salford!
Interesting beats and bitchy, sometimes snarly vocals. Some tracks are very infectious.

I actually purchased this for a friend before I bought it for myself. I admit, I discovered her once I looked up that catchy song from the iPod commercials. I sampled the songs and didn't find them to be anything special- but once I listened to the entire CD, I fell in love with it. It's a feel good CD, and definitely a great CD to sing along with. My favorite song being "The Limit to Your Love."

I am frequently a late comer to what is hip and cool. I had listened to Radiohead early on (Kid A, the Bends, Pablo Honey) but just didn't get it. In a twisted way I returned to Radiohead after my new found appreciation of groups like Coldplay, Muse, Keane, and the like. This Best of CD may not be all their best music but it is extensive and awesome. I couldn't stop listening to disc one with many of the familiar tunes but eventually found may way into disc two which is just as excellent in its own right. Songs like Let Down and Planet Telex really hold their own, even if they may not be their better known material.
Listening to Radiohead is a unique experience, and the critics were right about this group early on. I remember hearing an interview with Tony Banks from ... Read More:

This is the best album cover ever in rock and roll history as far as I'm concerned, the music inside is just gravy. Nothing could top OK Computer, so Radiohead didn't even try - they very wisely went in a completely different direction into almost another genre altogether. OK Computer is basically a straight up rock record but Kid A is pretty much electronic music. The first song, "Everything in it's Right Place" is one of the best in Radiohead's live set - it sounds much better live is what I'm trying to say - but the studio version is still very captivating, especially with good speakers. "How To Disappear Completely" almost matches the intensity of "Exit Music" from the previous record. I think the peak of the record is "In Limbo", maybe the scariest song I've ever heard from ... I just bought this reissues LP this weekend! and having seen only one review of the vinyl reprint i thought i would add my 2 cents. 1st the packaging is great these LP make CDs look boring, nice gate fold and you can see all the art work that is so small it the cd booklet and now it is huge and awesome. 2ed the sound That is my we are buying all this s@#t again right! Sounds great the highs are higher and the lowers are lower just like my life j/k! 3ed it is just a cool thing the have and revisit. I think the whole ritual of putting the record on sitting down and listening to the recording instead of driving or washing dishes or working out or what ever. So in summation i would give the music 5 stars the vinyl 4 stars so there you have it!

Hail to the Thief is in my opinion one of the best Radiohead cd's period. Most when thinking about Radiohead immediately think about Kid A, completely disregarding Hail. But! That's a mistake. Hail.. has the brilliant songs: Myxomatosis, Backdrifts and The Gloaming. If you don't already own it, get it now. And if you can, see them live. It will give you an even greater appreciation

Lykke Li is one of those artists where I read so much about her in the magazines I get to a point where I have to check out her music. I recently got hold of her US debut YOUTH NOVELS. Lykke's music is obviously pop but with a flair for minimalism. While a lot of people are fawning over YOUTH NOVELS, I honestly can say I am not impressed. The one song that I did like was "Tonight". The song had a good hook, very '60s retro poppish sounding. I really wanted to like the rest of the album but I couldn't Lykke Li's child-like vocals totally turned me off. I also didn't care much for how sparse and minimal the music was. The lyrics were a bit on the silly side but I didn't mind them so much as I did with Lykke's vocals and the music. Like I said before, I really wanted to like this cd but I just could ... Read More:

A lot of people hate this record and its predecessor, "Kid A". I mean, they really HATE them. I know Radiohead fans who threw them out after a week. That's understandable, if rather drastic. In the '90s, Radiohead were dependable for a great alternative rock anthem. They were good at it -- maybe too good. "Pablo Honey" is a good (not great) record and "The Bends" is better still. But when "OK Computer" hit, everyone went crazy. It got saddled with "Best Album of the Decade" tags. It mixed Radiohead's established strengths with considerably better lyrics and just enough experimentation to please those who were bored with the more conventional formulas of the band's previous two albums. No doubt about it, "OK Computer" is a master piece of an album. It's rare that a record can have twelve songs that ... Read More:
