There's very little I can add to the previous reviews except to say that this was the reason I bought a CD player years ago. More out of curiosity than anything else, I happened to pick up a copy of "Louis Prima: the Capitol Collectors Series" in its audiocassette format back in the early Nineties. Let me assure you, this is Prima at his best, during the wild and swinging Fifties, when his was "THE" act to see in Las Vegas. From the opening number, "Just A Gigolo," I was hooked. There isn't a single track (with the possible exception of "Beep! Beep!") that I didn't enjoy. The man was a master at his craft. When I drive down the road in my 2006 Honda Accord and have this collection playing on my six changer cd player I feel like it's 1922 in Alabama and I'm in my Ford jalopy listening to some great radio station from the past. These songs not only tell stories of the past they make you feel for people you have never met. It's a great collection.

This is as good as music gets. The first CD is an introductory one, with some dated material, but once you get beyond the 40's, every song is a winner. This contains several Greatest Hits sets all in one place. Just brilliant stuff, to which I'd give my highest recommendation.

I highly recommend this compilation to all music lovers. Blind Willie McTell was an outstanding 12-string guitar player, songwriter, and performer. This release truly gives you a sense of Blind Willie's hilarious personality. He had a funny way with words, and seemed to love singing about the ladies. However, the woman's voice heard on these recordings is from his life-long wife, Kate McTell. In addition, the sound quality is quite remarkable given the time frame of the recordings. This is a must have for all acoustic blues enthusiasts.

Although I never realized Dave Brubeck did an album with Jimmy Rushing, once I heard it, I knew I had to have it. I got a copy for my father also, who thinks the world of Brubeck and has seen him in concert from the 1950's thru today. To hear the quartet backing Rushing is really easy on the ears. If you love Brubeck, you will love this!
