Decidí irme a la fuga el pasado fin de semana (19 de noviembre del 2006) y me fui solo de escapada a ver el concierto del ano de Willy Chirino en el James L. Knight Center localizado en el downtown de Miami. Este espectáculo seria "Un Concierto para la Historia" ya que se transmitirá en vivo a Cuba a través de las frecuencias de Radio y TV Martí. También lo grabarían las cadenas PBS y SBS. Seria la noche del Cubanisimo.

Me monte en mi cochecito blanco, solo - pero acompañado, subiendo y bajando por la autopista 95 hacia el sur de Florida, escuchando cantantes latinos tales come Ednita Nazario, Shakira, Yerba Buena, Orishas, Raul Midon, Avana, Lissette y el nuevo CD de Ricky Martin, Life. One of the tracks here mentions Don Johnson and another East Germany. Needless to say it could be difficult to think back in terms of the 80's this year and beyond.

Willy Chirino takes a focus on Miami, and you here a lot of Cuban tracks, but there are also some Megengues, and even some late 80's early 90's nightclub inspired tunes.

I loved some of the Salsa and Merengue, Willy Chirino brings a good sense of humor, but some of the content has seen its better days.

I saw Willy Chirino on PBS May or June celebrating his 35th., year in music. I always liked his music, so naturally decided to see the special. The music was fantastic, and, decided to get a CD, and, unfortunately most stores in my area do not carry a full Latin line. I always can count on Amazon, and found what I was looking for, Willy Chirino, Greatest Hits. I plan on purchasing his newest CD Pa'Lante, and probably will also purchase the 35th., anniversary special. The minute you hear the first track on Greatest Hits, you just want to get up and dance. Thank you Amazon for carrying the Willy Chirino CD's.

Simply put, this album has it all!

It contains "A dónde Vas Ésta Noche," "Cómo Será," and "Tú Cumpleaños," which are some of the most beatiful salsa songs that I have ever heard. "Tiqui Tiqui" and "La Ultima Canción" are two dance-friendly merengue songs. He slows it down with a bolero (duo with his wife) on "Como Un Explorador," and touches on Cuban themes with "La Jinetera" and "Hablenme De Jatibonico." And of course, the musical quality is top-notch - no surprise coming from Chirino.

If buying an excellent all-around and truly diverse album is on your agenda, then this is a MUST HAVE for you!

Willy Chirino regresa con su más reciente creación de música en su último disco compacto Son del Alma (2004). Si, su nuevo tema saleroso, ardiente y bailable para el verano del 2005 es `Hechizo de Luna'. Nos dice "Esta noche será especial nos iremos para la playa. Tambores, arena y mar, canciones de mi guitarra. Dorada tienes la piel bailando sobre la arena. Se enciende mi corazón, hechizo de luna llena." Bailaremos y a cantaremos en compañía de esa persona especial. Lo he dicho!

I really enjoyed this CD. It is a very nice mixture of old and new. Willy Chirino and Lissette are a very nice duet. It is the type of music where you just want to relax with a very nice bottle of wine and a very special someone.
