Like many people, I first discovered Whitesnake in 1987 when they released their smash hit self-titled album. Growing up with that album, as well as the band's 1989 follow-up Slip of the Tongue, make listening to the band's early works a challenge. They're all good albums, but it's just not the Whitesnake I'm used to.
Released in 1978, Trouble is the band's fourth album (I'm counting counting White Snake and Northwinds). The blues and boogie Whitesnake sound on Trouble bears precious little resemblance to the hooks n' hairspray Whitesnake I was introduced to in 1987, but it's still plenty of fun to listen to. I love the hard charging Don't Mess with Me and the bluesy take on the Beatles' Day Tripper best, but the whole album is ... Read More:

I bought the 30th anniversary collection, and while the remastering of the original tracks were decent in their sound and overall quality, I was miffed completely by the fake live renditions of the songs. Obviously recorded more currently and with a few studio tricks needed to make him (David Coverdale) sound 20 years younger. Much of the backing music appears to be both outtakes from the original recording sessions and some of the final master takes heard on the orignal release.
And while David's latest efforts are actually pretty good in how he's learn to cope with the fact that he can't sing like he used to, he still projects alot of soul into his latest recordings.
But to pass off some lesser degree of deluxe edition ... Read More:

SWEET SATISFACTION, READY AND WILLING....... A classic album of a classic rock band, symply great with John Lord, Ian Paice..... This is the cd for you....
Release Date May 21, 1999
Among the unplugged rock performances i have experienced lifetime, this is the most outstanding one. Speechless about Mr.Coverdale's vocal performance. I believe, no one on the earth could add more to these songs performing them. But feel I must also note that Mr.Vanderberg's existance adds what ever needed to flourish.
This is a unique example to show nothing is needed more to rock then a man singing accompanied by a guitar.
Highly reccomended not only for Whitesnake fans but also anyone who would like to listen music at the purest soulfull state.

I decided to buy this special edition to replace my cassette tape of 1987 (U.S. Version) from 20 some years ago. This turned out to be such an excellent replacement. Comes with so much more than just the remastered album. I particularly enjoyed the DVD and 2 additional tracks from the originally released European version of the album. The other reviewer said DVD wouldn't work for US region, but it played fine on my standard JVC $100 DVD player. I highly recommend this special edition, especially, if you don't already own their recent releases such as Live in the shadow of the blues CD or Live in the Still of the Night DVD.

I think Amazon needs to pay me some dividends!! When this first came out Amazon was listing this for a price of between $35 and $45. I had to go elsewhere to get it for the price it was really worth. Now after paying $25 elsewhere, Amazon lists it for less than $15. What a rip off!!

The extras are worthless, especially since it opens with the girlie version of "Here I Go Again." Putting the album "Slide It In" on a compilation with the 2 hair band albums is a novel way of comparing the old with the new. The end of the blues period vs. the reformation as heavy metal superstars. The collection is good, 'cause I never had the hair metal albums (Whitesnake - good, and Slip Of The Tongue - which I love)on CD. Again, I found all the extras skip-able, and I do so, each time I put on the CDs. As for all the bragging about the 24-bit recording, blah, blah, blah...the CDs sound is muddy as hell, in my car and on my home system. The mix just plain sucks, compared to the original CDs, which I taped onto cassette from a friend. The bass is nowhere ... Read More:

This was the first album I ever bought by Whitesnake. I saw it for half-price in a bargain music store, so I got it. I was actually quite suprised when I liked it. Whitesnake was a hair/glam band from England, which is kind of suprising because most glam bands came from Los Angeles. But they show they can rock almost as much as Motley Crue or Poison. Although they don't have the good looks of Motley Crue, or the catchy choruses of Ratt, this band still has power. I like it. Any fan of 80's metal or 70's Led Zeppelin-type bands should enjoy this album.

Hands down the best CD by this band. This was just before they started their more commercial era and I tell you what this one finds it's way into my CD player just as much as the day I bought it. If you haven't discovered the other side of Whitesnake this is a good place to start. One word PHENOMENAL!
