Weezer (Red Album) [Deluxe]

This album is a really fun album to listen to. Just keep in mind that it is one of the weakest, if not the weakest, of their catalog of releases. It's just not as good as it could have been.

Still, I would recommend this to any Weezer fan and the Deluxe Version is the way to go.

To elaborate on the title, this was the first Weezer album I'd ever heard. I liked it, though parts of it sounded dated (I was going for that, anyway). But after hearing Blue and Pinkerton, I'm not sure how I feel anymore. On one hand, its decently catchy pop, but on the other, it doesn't come anywhere near the previously mentioned albums. The stand-out tracks would have to be "The Greatest Man That Ever Lived", "Pork and Beans", and "The Angel and the One". The rest is fairly forgettable, but its not BAD, like a lot of people say. Could be a grower in the months and years to come.

Weezer (Blue Album)

In 1991 singer/songwriter/guitarist Rivers Cuomo came along to form this band called Weezer and recruited lead guitarist Brian Bell, bass player Matt Sharp, and drummer Patrick Wilson. It wasn't until two years later in September 1993 that the band finally completed this marvelous debut known as "The Blue Album". To produce the ten songs included they chose Ric Ocasek from the popular 70's new wave group The Cars. I really like the raw sound that this recording has and the cover looks cool too mostly because blue happens to be my favorite color!

An acoustic guitar arpeggio opens the album's first song "My Name Is Jonas" in good fashion and then the distorted guitars kick in along with the distinctive vocals of Cuomo. Note the harmoinca ... Read More:

Weezer (Green Album)

This really made my funny bone tickle when it came out. It's kinda funny cause every song is great but it's not even 30 minutes long. Don't get me wrong, this os a really great album, but it only has 28 minutes of music on it. This is a really good release by the best band ever, but you should also buy all of their ohter albums. Hash Pipe Roks!

Pinkerton

Pinkerton brims with catchy pop hooks and melodies, yet manages to go beneath the surface of the band's power pop façade and expose all the feelings and desires of a self-isolated nerd/rockstar.

The album was originally panned by critics upon its release in 1996, but has now gone on to develop a cult following and has also gained the respect of critics and fans alike in retrospect.

A good portion of the album was written while Cuomo was attending Harvard, while dually recovering from leg surgery, and in the process, he became a self-isolated hermit. Make Believe

Thank the geekish rock gods for this one. The Blue Album: Amazing. Pinkerton: Amazing. We all know what happened after that... Dispite some very good individual tracks on The Green Album and Maladroit, they clearly didn't showcase what Weezer could do (I really liked both cd's, to be honest). Make Believe really re-raised the bar, with great tracks like, Perfect Situation(one of my favorites), Hold Me, and We are all on drugs. The second half of the cd is a little weaker, but still catchy. If you dont have this, get it. If you're one of those "Hey I only like Pinkerton and the Blue album fans", get over it. Those two are amazing, hands down the best Wezzer has to offer, but those days are over. We might still blow our car speekers to them, but Wezzers moved on. ... Read More:

Maladroit

I bought Maladroit hoping nothing else: I hope this thing freakin rocks. and what do you know it does rock. My fav off this album though, has got to be Dope Nose. It is a rock hard hit of the year. Don't get me wrong, all the other songs, (like slob, burndt jamb, and space rock) are almost just as good, but not quite. So lets give a round of applause to everybody's favorite band Weezer! (their other albums ae great too)
