This album is great. Victor grooves it up in this album showing that he can out play anyone. Yep he's a freak on the bass. Also some great drumming on this album.
Release Date October 11, 2005
A bass virtuoso of the highest degree creates a stunning record UNRIVALLED IN POWER AND SKILLS.If you are a bass musician then dont feel dissapointed VICTOR is here to teach you .PROPABLY HE WOULD BE THE BEST BASS PLAYER IN THE WORLD IF MARCUS MILLER WAS NOT BORN .

This was my first Greg Howe, and I probably couldn't have picked a better starting point. Wooten and Chambers are both great musicians in their own right, and Howe gives them plenty to work with (and why isn't Dave Cook mentioned on the cover?!). Would've been a five, but the whole album has an apprehensive undertone, probably due to the fact that they recorded the parts separately (notice the "recorded at __'s home studio" in the leaflet, not to mention the pre-production drums). If these four were in the same room during recording, you would know it. Nevertheless, the songs are solid, just enough drive for rock and all the rambling solos of a good jazz artist. Maybe give Wooten a longer solo next time... Overall, certainly worth a listen. ... Read More:
Excellent . beautiful job - recording encompasses several different music styles and they're all done with quality. Have recommended this one to several friends.

"Yin Yang" from living bass legend, the incomparable and inimitable Victor Wooten offers more of that wholesome bass goodness, that we all love and listen in amazement at, combined with a couple of swing-and-miss-like-a-blindfolded-drunkard tracks.
Some of the tracks on this double album, 'Hip Bop', 'Hormones in the Headphones', 'Imagine This", to name a few, are as good as anything Wooten has ever produced, being creative, tight, and well composed. Others, namely all the tracks featuring his daughter Kaila, are a bit too creative and not really that nice to listen to. I agree with another reviewer who said, that it is cute, and that those tracks are fun to listen to. Once. They should be on the album of course, but they are easily ... Read More:

Let me be the first to say that Victor Wooten is an amazing musician. And let me also be first to say that Victor Wooten's live act is a delight to see in person, emitting obvious talent and musicality along with the positive vibe that comes from seeing his family and friends supporting him on stage. But, these things aside, I cannot recommend this CD for anyone trying to get a good cross-section of Victor's sound.
Part of the problem is the CD's panoptic view of the Wootens' live set, rarely editing out the lengthy segues and in-betweens of some of the songs that are much more fun to watch than merely to hear. This comes especially true with Reggie Wooten's guitar work, which is a little unbearable if you can't watch him getting into it. Similarly, ... Read More:

I am a fan of all bass musicans including Victor, but this outing is painfull to listen to. It sounds like bad 70' funk with bad 80' rap layered on top.The lyrics provided are cheesey at best, allthough they are written with a meaningfull philosophical content, they could be penned by an elementary student with a degree in ryme. The bass playing is a step down from Victors ability shown in the past and I hope for a return to his signature roots for the future of bass.

If you heard the band's debut album, "Vital Tech Tones [Vol.1]", and liked it, you are going to love this album! These are musicians at the very peak of their musical career, yet, they do not take themselves too seriously. This is indicated perfectly on the opening track when Victor plays a little tongue-in-cheek piece introducing the band. This is what VTT are all about, having fun playing. Victor is a remarkable bass player. Unlike many fusion players these days, he still plays a 4 string bass. What he does on this instrument is quite frankly bewildering! His rhythmically complex patterns suggest to me that he must have had tabla lessons at some point! Such is his brilliance. Later, on the album, he switches to fretless bass, taking some fantastic solos on that as well! However, ... Read More:

Great album consisting of 3 of today's most talented musicians. I was a Wooten fan going into the album but my jaw dropped with Henderson's screaming guitar riffs; I have a new found respect for these cats after listening to this album. "snake soda" is off the hook and listening to another version of "giant steps" is always a treat.

I am not an expert, I do know what I like. Personally I think Victor is the next best thing since Jaco and Stanley made the scene. Inventive and sometimes outrageous.
Well for this album it is a little of a cross between Frank Zappa and Stanley Clarke along with a slice of Victor Wootens Life scape in the little short pieces that he always seems to include on his albums.
It isn't my favourite album but it does have some very interesting cuts.
Bottom line, I'm luke warm on it, BUT, when I take what I like out of it , there is more than enough to make me smile.
