How stupid do a record label or band ( who knows which ) must be, that they won't make a partner to this album. WHERE IS VOL.2 ?? You must really not want the 1-2 million copies of this sold and all that money made. Wait much longer, and everybody will forget VAN-HALEN.
Release Date September 19, 2000
Van Halen's classic album, filled up with plenty of risky and innovative guitar riffs (signed of course by, what else?, guitar virtuoso and experimental Eddie Van Halen) which defined the essence of hard rock sound during the 80's.
The subtle blend between hard rock and keyboards worked really well, just for this record and its era, keeping in mind the New Wave movement invaded almost everything then. Much more of it would become tedious...
Excellent vocals, amazing guitar riffs and a few hooking songs made this one of the decade's music exponent, still good enough to enjoy almost after thirty years. However, not all of the songs are as catchy as Jump or Panama, so listener may not expect much more beyond that, but ... Read More:

When it comes to Van Halen, I might be in the minority in terms of how I became a fan of this group. Prior to Sammy Hagar joining the band for 1986's "5150" album, I really had little interest in Van Halen. In fact, I never really was a fan for David Lee Roth - as I had thought him as a clown more than a musician. I had felt that Hagar had always brought a high-level of musicianship to the band. When I saw Van Halen in 2004 with Hagar, I confirmed my feelings about Hagar being the real deal. However seeing the band in 2004 gave me a whole new appreciation for the other members of the band - Michael Anthony, Eddie Van Halen, and Alex Van Halen. In fact, Alex's drumming really blew me away. Because I was so impressed with the band, I felt I owed ... Read More:

This product right here is a two-disc set featuring both david lee roth and sammy hagar songs, none with gary cherone. In my mind, the first disc should be david lee roth songs, and the 2nd disc is sammy hagar. But instead one song is david and the next is sammy. It is by no means a crappy album. It just ruins it when i am listening to david lee roth singing Jump and then the next track comes and it's sammy singing. Also, I should say that there are three new tracks on this, Sammy, Eddie and Alex play on it but no michael anthony

Although I had heard some of Women and Children First at a friend's house, I didn't really get into it until after I heard And the Cradle Will Rock on the radio. Then I had to buy the album and listened to it again, and again and again. Most VH fans I'm sure similarly wore out their turntables (not to mention enraging their parents and neighbors since of course the volume had to be turned all the way up). Now I have everything on CD and this disc, along with Fair Warning, get played more than the other DLR-era albums.
From a broadcast of Off the Record with Mary Turner I remember Roth joked that Eddie sleeps with his stratocaster. I think this album, more than any other, demonstrates what he was getting at, in terms of Eddie's familiarity with the ... Read More:

Like a lot of people, I've been hearing VH on the radio for...well for a really long time. Unlike a lot of people, I've only starting buying albums in the last couple of years, and every VH I get consistently becomes a regular spinner on my player. I've got almost all the albums with DLR (minus DIver Down) and am now dipping into Van Hagar.
I got 5150 about two weeks ago and can't stop spinning it. I'm finding that Van Halen was certainly NOT THE WORSE for deciding to work with the HUGE TALENT of Sammy Hagar (and vice-versa) after parting with legendary front man David Lee Roth. I just ordered OU whatever, 812 (oh, I get it now) because I LOVE 5150 and I listened to the song clips for that, too, and they sound great, both songs I recognized and ones I'd never heard. ... "Fair Warning" is kind of the black sheep album in the Van Halen catalogue. Other than "Unchained" the album did not receive a lot of airplay (at least compared to the band's other Roth era discs) and is probably the least commercial of their late 70's early 80's works. The band took some chances on this one which for me is a good thing. This is also probably the least party / fun oriented album of the Roth years. There was tension within the band by this point and it shows. There are no acoustic guitars to be found here either as the majority of the album is hard and heavy. The first use of keyboards by Eddie can be found here on "Sunday Afternoon In The Park". These would become more and more a part of the Van Halen sound on later albums. The album really starts out ... Read More:
