The beauty of this single lies in the 2 great live cuts. This single contains the best live version of Stay(Faraway, So Close) that I've heard. Where the streets have no name is lifted from the live DVD in Boston. The mix on these two tracks is so good that it makes you feel like you're actually in the audience. Amusthave for any die hard fan.

As a longtime U2 fan, having started to listen to them as far back as 1983, I realize this review will put me at odds with many U2 fans. To be honest, I have never been an especially big fan of the first three albums. While I like them, I merely find them interesting. Let me explain philosophically that I really don't care for mythologizing Rock bands or Musicians. For example, The Beatles, Bob Dylan, and Zeppelin have become so mythologized, it has become almost impossible for many to fairly assess the merit of their music, in each case, however great it might be overall, each has been `hit and miss' with their catalogue. With "Achtung," old school fans thought they got the joke - then U2 embodied its intent to finally smash the mold into irreparable pieces. Broadcast here in blaring quasi-techno Zoosound is an unprecedented message for U2: artifice really is chic. It was clear that U2 was trying to get away - but were they also trying to get one over? How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb (Collector's Edition)

Anyone who rates this lower than three stars has bumped their head! I agree that the packaging could have been better but the music is top-notch on this album. Calling U2 'sell-outs' for this record is utterly WRONG! The opening note to 'ALL BECAUSE OF YOU' catches my attention right away and gets my adrenaline pumping. The track 'A MAN AND A WOMAN' is beautiful and 'SOMETIMES YOU CAN'T MAKE IT ON YOUR OWN' is inspirational.

Ulitmately, I can hear the best of early U2 mixed with the experience and passion of later U2 mixed together very nicely on this album. I have both this version and the regular version of this album with no qualms about owning either.

I had LP, Polygram (now Universal) release CD, and this one
this one is the best sounding, remastering was supervised by Edge
the previous CD version is too cramped on high, that makes sound pretty muffled, that I still play digitized LP
if you like this CD, this one you'll love more due to better sound
