by: Tom Petty

Release Date November 01, 1994
I read that tom petty said he left off some song's for this album ( California, Hope you never, Hung-up and overdue etc. ). Why not add them to this album and any other's left -off......AS A SPECIAL RELEASE. A collectors album for the fans. Heck, we know some of those song's are on "SHE'S THE ONE" cd, but they where for this album in the first place.........AND WOULD SOUND BETTER WITH " WILDFLOWERS " cd. It's worth a try by the record label. Tom petty needs more collectors albums any-way.

Full Moon Fever

by: Tom Petty

Release Date October 25, 1990
After more than a decade of working with The Heartbreakers, Tom Petty took a breather and decided to fly solo. Well, sort of. "Full Moon Fever" is a Tom Petty album in name, but features songs co-written by Mike Campbell (who co-produced), and features Campbell, Howie Epstein and Benmont Tench on assorted songs.

What set this apart from the Heartbreakers' work was the impressive guest list. ELO's Jeff Lynne produced, Roy Orbison and George Harrison - three of the Traveling Wilburys - sang (and Del Shannon contributes 'barnyard noises'), along with a crack group of session cats. Lynne's fascination with roots rock hybrids (Dave Edmund's Information and some of his ELO songs) meshed perfectly with Petty's new direction, and Petty brought his strongest ... Read More:

Damn the Torpedoes

by: Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers

Release Date March 20, 2001
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers were at an impasse when it came time to record their third album. The label that had issued his debut and You're Gonna Get It!, Shelter, had been sold off. Petty wasn't too crazy about the deal MCA was giving him, so he disputed the contract. The fight pushed Petty to declare bankruptcy, but he also persuaded MCA to sweeten the band's contract.

Petty and the Heartbreakers, reinvigorated, quickly hit the studio with some new songs and a few pulled out of their early Mudcrutch days, and then delivered the best of their still young career. "Damn The Torpedoes" blisters with terrific songs and Jimmy Iovine's pristine yet rocking production. The Heartbreakers had matured into a stunning rock band, having refined their Byrds/Stones ... Highway Companion

by: Tom Petty

Release Date July 25, 2006
Good music, but diffently TOM PETTY's worst writing. YEP,the lyrics are bad.Real bad!!! Music is good (NORMAL), but the lyrics just bore the listener to death. Don't worry TOM, John mellencamp, and Bruce Springsteen have the same problem. When I listen to this album, i have know idea what tom is singing about. EXAMPLE. " SAVING GRACE,TURN THIS CAR AROUND, JACK, GOLDEN ROSE , DOWN SOUTH ", etc. And what about that song about a HORSE? A HORSE ( THAT's RIGHT ). Are you kidding me !!! NO, a stupid horse!! What ever happened to singing about GIRLS,LIFE,FUN,SUNNY DAYS, and jump -up and down songs ? Isn't that how TOM got famous??? YEP!! But ,not on this album.

Southern Accents

by: Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers

Release Date October 25, 1990
The run-of-the-mill Long After Dark was the first album from Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers to garner a less than stellar reception. The frustration Petty felt became evident in the tales that emerged during the recording of "Southern Accents," including a broken hand incurred when Petty punched a wall in frustration. The desire to create something outside the box was evident when the first single appeared. "Don't Come Around Here No More" twanged out with psychedelic sitars and a wild "Alice in Wonderland" video, and was unlike any Petty song before it.

Dave Stewart was feeling his oats outside Eurythmics and it was his eclectic production spiced up "It Ain't Nothin' To Me" and "Make It Better," yet he was just one of three outside producers, including Robbie Robertson ... Read More:

Into the Great Wide Open

by: Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers

Release Date July 02, 1991
This was the album that should have come before Full Moon Fever. Perhaps if it had, "Into The Great Wide Open" might not have been so disappointing. Where Tom Petty and Jeff Lynne seemed to capture a Heartbreaker's sound stripped down on the hits like "I Won't Back Down" and "Running Down a Dream," on this album, The Heartbreakers seemed compressed and smothered in layers of pudding. It made "Great Wide Open" the first Heartbreakers album for me to fall below excellence.

Things open promisingly with the cool single "Learning to Fly" and one of Petty's early music industry diatribe in the title track (shades of The Last DJ!). "Kings Highway" is an example of a song that could have been perfect had it not been slathered in Lynne's excess. And in all honesty, some of these songs ... Read More:
