The soundtrack arrived within about a week. (I never opt for faster delivery.) It was exactly what I wanted and, as far as I can tell, plays flawlessly.

Beautiful soundtrack... this is all of the music that the composer, Carl Davis, created for the movie. There are 24 tracks on this disc and the music is so lovely. It really takes you back into the movie, especially track 14, Pemberley, and track 15, Darcy Returns. Melvyn Tan's performances on the pianoforte are beautiful. It is also a chance to hear more complete selections rather than just bits and pieces used in the movie. Play this in the background when you can't take the time to watch the movie.
Other reviewers commented on the fact that many of the selections from the movie that they wanted to hear once again were not on the soundtrack. The music pieces they mention are what Mr. Davis refers to as source music, anything ... Read More:

I admit it: this is less a review and more of a compulsion to weigh in on the debate, as both a performer of early music and a longtime shapenote singer.
First of all, this is Anonymous 4, and these women are much to polished and professional to do anything less than magnificent. That being said, this is Anonymous 4, and they worked for years on perfecting their sound and in particular the blend of their four voices. They cannot be expected to sound like four random singers at a Sacred Harp convention, where anyone and everyone is welcome. Those who have said that this sacred music is for everyone are right: it is for everyone, back porch singers and trained professional alike. Anonymous 4 just happens to fall into the latter group. ... Read More:

Beautifully done, arranged, and selected. All are very good performances, and there are many lesser known but wonderful pieces such as the movement from Shostakovich's second piano concerto.

This lady has one great voice. She can certainly sell a song. My only reservation about her is that she's a bit cocky. I think she could use some humility.
Release Date December 07, 2004
If you like strange and creepy sounding music, this is an excellent soundtrack. I heard the ending title and that was the main reason I bought the CD. The music is very hypnotic, and the same tune plays over and over again, it's kind of a weird type of "Chill Out" (I think that's what that style of music is called).

My mom loves British comedies as seen on our local PBS station and
BBC America. She also liked this CD.
Trust my mom, she has good taste. :)

My quest to find this soundtrack (though at the time, I didn't know this was the one I was looking for) began when I saw the Flyboys trailer a while back. The music in the trailer was amazing, and I was determined to find where it came from.
My search led me here, to Steve Jablonsky's The Island, and specifically track 14; My Name Is Lincoln.
Even if 'Lincoln' was the only track on the score, it may be worth the full price. Okay, not quite, but the song is VERY GOOD! Unfortunately, the rest of the score isn't quite as good, though it isn't terrible. It does not offer any strong themes or particularly memorable moments, it's kind of just there. I'm also not a huge fan of the last song, which I deleted from my mp3 player.

Just hearing the bonus track of David Carroll singing "Love Can't Happen" makes me wonder how BETTER the original cast recording could have been. Brent Barrett vocally sounds shrill and tense in his upper range, marring the official recordings of "Roses at the Station" and "Love Can't Happen". What a tragedy!!! And Carroll's other recording--the Broadway version of Chess--is no longer in print (according to Amazon). This is a double tragedy, because David played Anatoly in the show and gets to sing the powerful "Anthem" at the end of Act 1.
Generally, the score sounds cobbled together with no memorable melodies (other than "Love Can't Happen", which burrows its way into your psyche at the first or second hearing). Perhaps Yeston should have written ... Read More:
