I have found this CD for $5 an up in used record stores and for way lower than $70 on ebay...try $30 and up.

It's a great CD and as of right now it's the only way to get any of his solo stuff in CD quality. First released in 1989.

Kurt Weill continues to baffle me with his music. It is only through his interpreters that his work is defined from the theatrical styles of Ute Lemper, Lotte Lenya to the hip versions of Sinatra and Darin. And that makes his music so intriguing that his ouvres continues to be played in various styles and in more frequent fashion.

This Centennial collaboration is a welcome addition to that growing list of Weill tributes. Finally, I enjoyed his "Lost In The Stars" and "It Never Was You" compositions - works I find difficult to appreciate. Thank you Messrs. Peters and Panaro for singing these songs in a way I could understand musically! I wan't expecting the ubiquitous "Mack the Knife" would come out interesting but Shirley Jones' powerful ... Tim Curry never fails to surprise and delight. I bought this LP because of the "I Do the Rock" track, but after a listen I was pretty well hooked on the whole thing. The man is armed with loads of talent, and he ain't afriad to use it!

Now ... if only some outfit would rescue this gem from the dust-bin and get it re-mastered and put on a CD ...

I gave this cd 4 stars becuase it does not contain the original alternate recordings of a few of the songs that were released on the original vinyl album back in 1973. Everything else is the same and the original production.

These are the classic songs first performed here 18 months before the legendary movie soundtrack. These songs sound almost like demos for the up and coming popular soundtrack recordings.

Very 70's and very fun.
Great for completists and fans of the cult The Rocky Horror Picture Show
