Another Country

If Tift Merritt never records another album, I will still be happy. She has made three of the best soft country albums of all time. I will never get tired of listening to her lilting and deeply felt Southern vocals. Clearly she writes the tunes first because they flow just fine on their own but her voice, like that of an angel, adds meaning to the music that few female singers can match. After listening to her music for awhile, you feel you know here inside and out and you just know she is love-filled person just wanting to express it to the world. So much talent, so expressive and one of the all-time greats.

Great CD. Found myself humming a few of the songs long
after I'd stopped playing it. Love her voice, her range
goes from sweet sincerity to forceful tones. I am also
impressed in her writing prowess. I now have enough
interest to seek out other things she's done.

Tambourine

This second CD by Tift surpasses even the best of other female singer/songwriters like Carole King and Shania Twain, who deservingly had albums that were a huge commercial success. Tambourine is great from top to bottom and the last 5 songs are as good as it gets. To fully appreciate her superb songwriting, one needs to listen and read along with the lyrics a couple of times. Her songs combine sensible lyrics with excellent melodies that cover the whole spectrum of tempo. It is hard to pin her down to one genre, but this album deserved more that just the Grammy nomination that it got. I don't see how every review could not give it 5 stars!
