This is a wonderful CD/DVD! A must for a family with small children. It is so neat to hear our toddler singing about "go, go , go for G" and other silly ABC tunes. Worth every penny.

Regardless if you've ever heard a TMBG album or not, you know these songs can get into your head. Just give a listen to the theme song for Malcolm In The Middle and see if you can get it out of your head. It's dork rock that every certified dork and inner dork will enjoy.

They Might Be Giants is for anybody who loves singing along to the monk chant or the Knights of the Round Table song in Monty Python and the Holy Grail. If you remember Tiny Toons in the 90's, you probably remember Particle Man and Istanbul. There's probably no better summary of the absolute genius of They Might Be Giants than this 2-disc compilation. The quality of the band's music definitely had its peaks and valleys, and the non-sequential order of the tracks makes that even more apparent than if they were chronological. But when the band was on, they were one of the most entertaining acts around -- around the time of Lincoln and Flood, it was impossible not to love them. As with all career-spanning song sets, some of the best songs were omitted, lord knows why: "Subliminal" and "AKA Driver" from John Henry (while they did include lesser songs from the same album... puzzling). Anybody who's familiar with They Might Be Giants probably knows about the average duration of their songs. They pack two verses, a bridge, and a repeated chorus into two minutes or less on many occasions. However - even this gets to be a little bit boring when all of the songs generally feel the same, and it's not an entirely great same.

This album was produced in that all of the music is very spacious and drenched in reverb; and though it can be a cool sound, it really isn't with those songs that are only a guitar, keyboard, and a drum machine (There are some songs on here with saxes and actual drums, but not for the most part...)

The Else

Everyone I knew in 1990 had the album Flood with all of the cultish, somewhat hilarious classics that came from this group of nuts and I hadn't even really thought of them for years when I stumbled across their new album. A few listens of the first song "I'm Impressed" had me a little excited, instead of silly pop or strange ethereal words, it was a real song and a good song at that. The boys were actually saying something, so I found the second song "Take Out The Trash" and the next "Upside Down Frown" and by then I was hooked.

I can't even believe how good all of The Else really is. Again, I like every single song on here. Yet again some are better than others so it's not perfect but there aren't a lot of perfect albums out there and when an album can ... Read More:
