Clearly two groups will be interested in this album: Doctor Who fans (and who isn't these days with the new series going into it's fourth year), and 80's British club culture fans (and certainly there are more than a couple of us that Raved).

This is the "album" that marked the end of the commercial exploits of the KLF/JAMM, and so the publicity goes it's the million pounds they got from sales of this that they burned. Long out of original print, non-British companies have had the rights to continue distribution, but it is a vanishing artifact.

Of course, there was no actual TV episode where a Dalek spoke, "Loads of money".

The History of the JAMS a.k.a. The Timelords

The Justified Ancients of Mu Mu (The Jams) formed in 1987. The tracks on this CD are taken from their various early singles and LPs. The group also recorded as The Timelords, KLF and 2K. The Jams were a sample crazed production team that took sampling to the extreme. They made a lot of really interesting music sampling anything they felt like sampling. Consequently, they got sued a lot. Anyway, this is a really fun CD that features some of their work that they got permission to release, including their first real hit "Doctorin' the Tardis". If you like that song, you'll probably like the rest of the CD. It even incudes a Christmas song, "Downtown", and a New Years song, "Burn the Beat".

This, of course, makes perfect sense, as the band's debut release comes courtesy of the venerable progenitors of all that has become "shred", Shrapnel Records. Timelord are a very old-school styled aggressive, chops-oriented prog-metal band, which would have sounded right at home in 1987 alongside such Shrapnel artists as Jason Becker and Racer X. Intricate, lengthy songs and unbelievably complex and technical soloing is simply crammed into this epic, rather neo-classical-tinged album. The vocals are of the ear-piercing, operatic variety as well, and are somewhat reminiscent of the band Sun Caged.
