Ultimate Collection

by: Sons of the Pioneers

Release Date May 21, 2002
The original Sons of the Pioneers had the perfect blend of harmony. AND Bob Nolan wrote some of the greatest cowboy songs. Among them the unforgetable TUMBLING TUMBLE WEEDS. This recording has the perfect collection of Sons of the Pioneer hits of their day. If you like Country-cowboy of the 40s and 50s THIS IS THE ONE.

The Republic Years

by: The Sons of the Pioneers

Release Date October 03, 2006
A few of the selections in this collection are quite nice and a pleasure to hear; however, others are very poor and not worth the space they occupy on the disc. One is so bad it sounds like it was recorded under water. Even that could be an enjoyable novelty if it was consistent and didn't sound like it was also skipping. I transferred the good cuts and don't expect to listen to the entire collection a second time. A disappointment.

Western Hymns and Spirituals

by: The Sons of the Pioneers

Release Date August 19, 2008
Varèse Sarabande presents "WESTERN HYMNS & SPIRITUALS" -- The Sons of the Pioneers was an American cowboy singing group founded in 1933 by Leonard Slye (better known by his later screen name Roy Rogers), with Tim Spencer and Bob Nolan --- They were soon joined by others including Karl Farr, Hugh Farr, Lloyd Perryman, and Pat Brady --- The group remained popular into the 1960s --- Though all of the above members have passed away, the group continues on today (2008), led by Dale Warren (a member since 1953 replacing Ken Curtis), and performs regularly at concerts in Branson, Missouri and other spots --- It is believed that the Sons of the Pioneers is the oldest continually performing private musical group in history.[citation needed] Ken Curtis ... My Saddle Pals and I

by: The Sons of the Pioneers, Sons Of The Pioneers

Release Date April 11, 2005
Just great tunes. The only problem is that they are all not there. This set is missing some great songs from the Memories from the lucky U ranch album. Instead there are multiple renditions of the same songs but 90% of this set's content is free of repeats. Great value for good recording quality of some great music.

Cigareets, Whusky...And Cool, Cool Water

by: The Sons of the Pioneers

Release Date May 21, 2002
Cool Cool Water and Whuskey brought me back to the 1940s when alot of music meet something in a better life than now with music going no where. Today Country music has little in it .Too BAD.But I'm just a country boy of middle 60's in age.

CD-Charts Music : The Best of Roy Rogers

The Best of Roy Rogers

by: Roy Rogers & The Sons of the Pioneers

Release Date November 27, 1990
The caption said this is Roy's ORIGINAL recordings. They sound as good now as they were in the 1940s when Roy Rogers, Sr. was performing in person in Pittsburgh, PA. The voice is mellow and the sound clear. I just came back from Branson, MO where his son, Roy Rogers, Jr. has a show and Jr. sounds a lot like his famous Dad.

CD-Charts Music : Essential Collection

Essential Collection

by: Sons of the Pioneers

Release Date March 26, 2002
For once, a CD lives up to its title. The Essential collection is culled from the Orthacoustic transcriptions, featuring perhaps the best lineup in Sons history performing just about every song in the Nolan/Spencer/Spencer songbooks written to that point. Obviously, this collection doesn't have them all--there were somewhere around 200 recorded--but it does contain some really great tunes. I can't say some of the best, because they were all good!

See also: Symphonies of the Sage, also from Soundies. It has some unfortunate overlap with this set (it came out first, and Soundies probably felt the overlapping tunes couldn't be left off of this collection and still call it "essential"), but the unique tunes are well worth your consideration.
