THIS ALBUM IS SO GOOD! I own almost every Roots album and over the years I've found that the older it is, the more I like it, but RISING DOWN suprised me! It's probably one of my top 3 Roots albums ever. It has an intense purpose and message while still remaining entertaining. The beats are amazing, the lyrics are incredible, and it's one of those CDs that you can keep playing over and over and never get sick of it. Talented and reputable guest artists all over the album! Great driving music!

i have always had fond memories of this group and recently, while surfing, saw this item at a great price so i could not resist.

i have purchased many items from the: [20th Century Masters - The Millennium Collection] and have been happy with all.

I often used to get to see this group perform live for free when I was a college student in Pittsburgh long before they became famous. They were a nice group of people. I always told friends that they were going to be nationally famous. Well this is the album that made that prediction come true. There is a different sound here than you get from most rock bands. Some of that is a Nicaraguan influence that the leader of the band inherited from his stay in that country. The album starts out with one of the best drum jams you'll ever hear and that leads you into one of the greatest rock albums you'll ever hear. Game Theory

Really enjoy listening to this album. Listening to it from start to finish, it really comes together. Good recording quality for your hi-fi. There's a few really cool classic songs. Overall not perfect but very good and worth the purchase.

Things Fall Apart

Really can't add nothing new to what has already been said about this album. The Roots' 1999 album Things Fall Apart is a very exceptional album. Black Thought and Malik B (and if you want to add Dice Raw) shine lyrically, and ?uestlove and Scott Storch shines with the production. Many people who has a hate towards mainstream saw this a breath of fresh air from artists like Jay-Z, Cash Money, and Ruff Ryders. Like many people, this was when I got into this band when they came out with "You Got Me" with Erykah Badu and Eve (from what I heard there was a version with the lesser known Jill Scott before MCA made them record it again), and the headbanger "The Next Movement". Illadelph Halflife

It's been over 12 years since I first heard this CD and to this day, when I hear the thump of Respond React, it still gives me goosebumps.

I love this album. It's whats good about Hip Hop. Or should I say, it's what was good about Hip Hop. Flawless. Complete. Nothing today can come close. Lyrically stimulating. Black Thought is gem in this release.

I won't insult your intelligence by saying this is the best Roots album. If your reading this, then you know who the Roots are. Organix and Do You Want More are also exceptional. This was their last great album.

Best Hip Hop album of all-time? .... Honestly. Yes. Barely beats out Madvillain.

Phrenology

I am a liberal and openminded fan of music in general. The Roots and this release by The Roots are not just some of the best hip hop has to offer; they are some the best MUSIC the world over has to offer. These guys have many great albums, and in my opinion, the greatest musical talents grow and evolve with each release; giving a unique listening experience with every album. If you are looking for the same sound as "illadelph" or any of their other previous works, which stand alone with greatness, you are not giving yourself a chance to truly experience this great album as well as many others. I'm not going to tell you what songs to listen to here; just listen to the whole thing. I listen to many genres of music and I've come to pigeonhole artists only as great musicians or not. I bought this the day it came out, like it states on the page, January 17, 1995. I was 16. I played this everywhere. School, parties, chillin' in the car. This was the tipping point for any rap that year. 1995, don't get me wrong, was THE year for hip-hop; East/West rivalry, every artist battling out to who is the best, when being the best, was what it was all about.

This is the second album of THE ROOTS, the first being ORGANIX. Which was also a dope album. But for any album produced that year, that is the one people can say," Hey remember Do You Want More!!??!!?!" Everyone will remember.

Yes...yes. All the calls for me (your beloved Seer) to retire have been dutifully ignored. Why, you may ask? Because, selflessly, I have a thirsty public perched for every new word from me and I just can't let them down. Besides, it wouldn't be very impressive in Wikipedia. Finding Nemo

I bought this CD since I fell in love with a lot of the calming music from the movie. However, the tracks are very short and unfortunately, my favorites are the shortest. My four year old hates it and aks for it to be turned off. It's pretty relaxing. Anybody know where I can get the longer version of the track where Nemo and the others are swimming on Mr. Ray's back?
