I went to a Kingston Trio concert recently and really enjoyed it, which motivated me to buy this CD. My four year old grandson also really likes it. The only downside is that he keeps wanting to sing "Charlie on the MTA" even though I have a terrible voice.

Did any of us play guitar before the Kingston Trio burst onto the scene in 1958? Overnight the entire neighborhood gang all owned guitars. I sure followed suit and bought an old Gibson I still own today.
We anxiously awaited the release of every new album and to have four great LPs released in 1958-1959 was just incredible. We knew every song by heart, no lyric escaped us. The guitar chord progressions were never too difficult to master. And somehow when we crooned we all took different harmony lines. Amazing. We'd listen to those LPs for hours and hours. And then we'd sing for hours and hours on those soft summer nights of our youth.

This album brought back good memories of when I was pre-teen. The Kingston Trio were very popular when I was growing up. This album has some of the best Kingston Trio's songs.

The sound of the music on the CD is better than the original records. I have bought several of the Kingston Trio CDs and have not been disappointed with any of them. Great CD and great price.

Love this CD! It brings back memories of my favorite group and I find myself singing with them just as I used to do way back when. This music sounds as great today as it did back in the 60s.

With the untimely death of John Stewart, it is great to find these newly rarity Cd's. John was, in my opinion, the greatest songwriter ever. He never got his dues he richly deserved. I only hope they find more rarity's not only of the Trio, but more unreleased songs by John, like those in the Secret Tapes Cd.

This is another great 2fer from Collector's Choice. I like both of them very much, with a special nod going to College Concert. Recorded in 1962, it shows the Trio sounded pretty much the same as they did in the studio. Their energy is incredible, and the sincerity is unsurpassed. They could kick Green Day's butt anyday. The version of MTA is better than the studio cut, Little Light is wonderful, and I really like The Ballad of the Shape of Things. It's a really funny, unique song, with some very subtle comedy. There's a ton of really genuine, funny dialogue between the boys that doesn't seem forced. Close Up is pretty damn good, too. It was John Stewart's first album with the Trio (you can see him nowadays on The Daily Show on Comedy Central), and it is filled with great songs. ... Read More:
