Yes...yes. All the calls for me (your beloved Seer) to retire have been dutifully ignored. Why, you may ask? Because, selflessly, I have a thirsty public perched for every new word from me and I just can't let them down. Besides, it wouldn't be very impressive in Wikipedia. Fame must be protected at all cost I always say!

Anyway, the mystery is always what I'm going to review next. But the truth is- I have no idea. Keeping that in mind people, things have a way of evolving into your conciousness in many mysterious ways. Take for example this review. I was with a friend the other evening and we were playing that game - you know the one - whereby you say a word or a phrase and the person responds to whatever it triggers within their own mind. ... Leavin' It All Behind

by: The Grass Roots

Release Date December 01, 2006
I've got a well preserved vinyl copy and I jumped at the chance to get a limited edition remastered CD of what I think my be the best Grass Roots album ever. So far I've listened to it through Sennheiser headphones off a computer CD drive and I'm just blown away by the sound quality.

Every tune on this album is great listening. One of the "non hits" sort of reminds me of The Doors, and another of The Grateful Dead, but it's all 1960's rock heaven.

The true highlights are:

First, the full length version of "Walking Through the Country" which I've heard many times, but there seems to be an "extra verse" or two on this album. A great tune!

And best of all, the original version of "Wait a Million Years" with ... Read More:

Is this a Hong Kong bootleg? The quality is so poor and the singers are so obviously not the original ones that I have to wonder. (Plus, the fact that it is an 'import' should be a big clue for you.)

Let's Live for Today/Feelings

by: The Grass Roots

Release Date December 18, 1995
I have the two albums, "Let's Live for Today" and "Feelings," on separate LPs bought back in the '60s. But putting them together here is a bonus for the buyer for one big reason: These recordings showed the band, and their songwriters and backup musicians on the periphery, at their creative heights.
They were all young and hungry then, and given the time, 1967-68, it was a zenith for creativity and taking chances, unlike the early '70s as these recordings came before the Grass Roots, with key lineup changes, sold out to mainstream pop and ultimately fizzled like spent soda.
There are the two album title hits (and other add-ons that weren't on the two original albums) as well as updated versions of "Where Were You When I Needed You" and "Tip of My Tongue" minus P.F. ... Read More:

Anthology: 1965-1975

by: The Grass Roots

Release Date July 02, 1991
Like a few other bands of the '60s, the name "The Grass Roots" was in large part an umbrella for the songwriting and production of its producers, in this case P.F. Sloan and Steve Barri. Though a somewhat steady lineup would record the group's best known hits ("Let's Live for Today," "Midnight Confessions," and "I'd Wait a Million Years"), even these players had been drafted into the fold, and only then after two other editions of the band had turned out several singles and an album.

Enter Grass Roots #1: The story begins with Sloan and Barri as staff writers for Dunhill Records. They'd been recording surf and drag singles (most notably as The Fantastic Baggys), but began moving in a folk-rock direction with Sloan penning Barry McGuire's "Eve of Destruction" and The ... I really enjoy going back to the 60's and listening to this Doors c.d. makes it very easy with their songs.

Temptation Eyes

by: The Grass Roots

Release Date January 01, 1995
The songs are excellent but som etrivia about the cover shot:

L to R shot: Denny Ellis, Dave Stenson, Joe Larson (who later returned on the last 2 albums "Alotta Mileage" and "Movin Along"), Bill Fulton.

This was the original lineup that recorded the first album "Where were you when I needed you" All the compositions from that album were composed by Barri-Sloan....This had a "monkees" scenario to it, as the band were hand picked by the song writers to record their collected works. But for mostly marketing reasons, the members were all replaced by the second album lineup. As well as using Barri-Sloan compositions..the new lineup offered up remarkable song writing skills of their own.

This cd represents tracks from that second lineup.
