I can't believe I'm just now finding out about this super-talented guitar player and his band. This guy is fantastic with ear-catching chops that are also super-melodic. He's got tremendous feel, probably one of the best guitar players I've ever heard.

The whole album is very listener-friendly, energetic yet easy going. It's bluesy and really funky. Great keyboards too. In fact, the singing, the drumming and everything else here is first rate.

Derek Trucks has proven that there is still room for improvement on the creative platform. He and is super talented band are the best I've heard in a long time. These boys use the full musical palette of colour...it aint just BLUE!!

Joyful Noise

I'm picky.
And this cd surpasses what I had expected.
I love when artists can show versatility from song to song.
This cd does this, and then some,
without losing the bluesy vibe.
LOVE it.
if you ever get a chance to see these fellas live,
DO IT.
I had so much fun I had to buy a cd as a memoir.
This was a great choice:)

Live at Georgia Theatre

I have been a DTB fan for a couple of years now. I think this live CD capture the jam band feel they always have. I read all the 1 star reviews and was disappointed they dave the CD bad review because of the IMPORT price. Now I must say if your going to give DTB 1 star for their music, it was probably better you didn't get the CD because its not your type of music.
A great CD to buy, just dont pay the import price.

We all know the history. Get Frogwings. Anyway after listening to Gov't Mule's LWALHFOF's 2 CD set(later got the 4 CD set) I figured it was about time to finally buy a few CDs by this child guitar master. So I went out and bought The Derek Trucks Band and Out Of The Madness. Check out the Herring/Trucks Project X.

While I readily conceed that Out Of The Madness clearly quantum leaps his first album; Well, you have to listen to Out Of The Madness to understand and comprehend. It is just about as singularly nasty and brutal as Gov't Mule's Dose. Dose was the apex of the Allen Woody three piece Gov't Mule.

Out of the Madness

Derek Trucks works as a guitarist with the Allman Brothers Band, but he also has his own band, and in addition, he is married to contemporary blues great Susan Tedeschi, who often tours with him.

On this CD, he shows off his prodigious guitar playing on such good cuts as Preaching Blues, Ain't That Lovin You, and Young Funk. He doesn't sing, but has vocalists with him that are more than capable of handling the materials.

With songs that range from blues to rock to funk, Trucks is claiming territory for his generation presided over by such veteran guitarists as Jeff Beck and Steve Morse. This is the beginning of a great talent worth watching in the years to come.
