Nobody loves the harmonies, melodies and memories that these guys evoke like me...BUT, there is one glaring ommision...'I Gave to You', the Ultimate Slow Jam when I was in Jr. High School, yeah, knit just out of the cleaners, BRUT, 'Fro picked out to the max and that blue light in the basement at Felicia's house (she gave the BEST house parties). That Philly sound is timeless and priceless...

I liked that many of these songs fit into the "one hit wonder" category, it was fun to listen to them again after all this time. I agree with what many people said about the news snip-its randomly inserted through out - while I didn't completely hate them, it was annoying when I created an itunes play list with some of these songs for a party and all of a sudden the music stops and some weird recorded voice stated speaking about some news-worthy event. I thought they might show up as separate tracks on the CD, providing the ability to omit them from playlists, but that was not the case. Dispite this, I love the box set.

Every time I listen to the Delfonics, my mind goes back to some pleasant moments. It's great that their originals are available. I don't need to say anything else, except Fantastic!

Although their 1966 debut single 'He Don't Really Love You' dosen't appear in this CD, the overall songs compilation is really great! The recognizable high voice of William Hart remains so warm and soulful throughout the years, while it is worthmentioning that many artists (incuding Fugees and Prince) have paid tribute to the band through various renditions of their songs!

this shipment really made me feel ripped off. this is not EVEN the original delfonics (with eddie holman). it isn't even a good remake of these tunes. very dissapointing.

The Philly legensds, The Delfonics release their 3rd album, their self-titled 1970 classic. This album has some real memorable cuts here. I really dig William Hart's falsetto "Trying To Make A Fool Of Me" is such a beautiful track; it has some of the best choral harmonization I have ever heard. The beat is nice, rolling funk with a nice sitar and horn added. The joint is kinda sad where a guy needs to be let go in a head-game filled relationship. It is one of my favorite soul jams ever. "Didn't I (Blow Your Mind this Time)" again employs the early 70's sitar trademark. Again, the harmonization is outstanding, and the chorus has a heavenly, airy feel to it. A sweet slow jam is "I Gave To You." William Hart really digs deep into the soul with ... Read More:

There is no greater fan of the Delfonics than I am. But if you're looking for the original version of these songs, this CD is not it. These are re-recordings by the Delfonics. Still smooth, but not the songs we listened to in the 60s and 70s. For their best greatest hits package buy "The Delfonics Definitive Collection: La La Means I Love You."
And if you want to hear the Delfonics best album song for song buy their self-titled CD "The Delfonics." It contains the classic "I Gave To You" which unexplainably does not appear on the Definitive Collection.

Firstly there is NOTHING sub standard or below par of this CD. This so called Bob is an idiot who needs his ears cleaned. Stop trying to think you have a golden ear. You don't. I've had this CD since the beginning of 2008.
As for the music it's classic, classy and sexy soul. Some OK covers, yet many of these have been done over in reggae, notably'La La','Break Your Promise','Losing You',and 'I'm Sorry.
This is an great introduction to this legendary group that's well presented by those good people at Ace Records. It puts todays so called R&B to shame.
