I hate to be kind of a damper, but I can't rave about this like many other reviewers. Mind you, no problems with Suzy's voice. It's good, one of the clearest voices I've ever heard. But the songs just don't have much to them. The lyrics are forgettable for the most part. Much of the album comes accross as "lite" music that one might encounter in dentist office. For those people who are Bogguss fans, there's a full 20 tracks here taking up nearly 80 minutes, so you'll get your money's worth if you are a fan.

Not so long ago, my folks and I went to the Dominican Republic. While we were getting off the plane we heard the Nanci Griffith hit "Outbound Plane," being played on the satelite radio. I couldn't figure out who it was. So when I got home, I noticed that the other person who sang it was Suzy Bogguss. I borrowed a copy of this album from a friend and now I have it on my iPod. She sure sings some great songs. Others that I like incluede, "Drive South," and "I Want to Be a Cowboy's Sweetheart." Now I have just GOT to see her in concert. What a voice!
Release Date June 17, 2003
This is a big departure from her usual, really great, catchy tunes, though! The kind of music that will keep your feet tapping. Definitely worth the money!

I've heard Suzy Bogguss on the radio for years, but never bought anything of hers until now and I love it. It's the best ever.
Release Date August 27, 1991
Suzy Bogguss is probably one of the best kept secrets in country music. She has never really been a huge superstar like some other female artists, but her music is perhaps more real, heartfelt and honest than some other singers. She does not have a belting, shrieking voice like Martina McBride or Reba McEntire. And she is not as flashy or "pop-sounding" like Shania Twain or Faith Hill. She just sings pure, simple songs with her rich, textured voice.
This is probably her best studio album with strong cuts such as "Outbound Plane", "Someday Soon", "Letting Go" and the title track "Aces". I first bought this CD back in the early 90's when it was originally released. The tracks don't seem a bit dated all these years later.

Here is a disc that will remind you why just about everybody loved Chet Atkins. Like so many other artists, Chet helped Suzy Bogguss get her start. From working together, they decided they'd like to do an album together and what an effort it turned out to be!
The smoothness of Suzy's voice is in perfect harmony with Chet's playing in that spare "just right" style he had. The production allows Suzy's singing and Chet's playing to be present in the mix and even to an untrained ear they sound exceptional.
This album is a good example of what's happening in music today. As good as this one is, it should be judged a classic and never go out of print. However because not many people even know about it, you have to do like I did and search it out from a second ... Read More:

Suzy became one of my favorites singers with her incredible but commercially unsuccessful debut album and has remained one of my favorites ever since. This album is fairly typical of the majority of her music - classy contemporary country with an occasional slice of more traditional country. I get the impression that Suzy really prefers the traditional stuff but she knows that a successful career requires a contemporary style.
So this album contains songs from a variety of pop, rock, country and folk songwriters. John Hiatt, whose songs have often been recorded by Bonnie Raitt, is represented by two songs (Drive south,, Lovin' a hurricane). Lowell George (of Little Feat) co-wrote the opening track, Heartache. Cheryl Wheeler (a folk-country singer with a great sense of humor) is ... Read More:

This is one of her best!! Lots of beautiful ballads accentuated by the crystal clear beauty of Suzy's voice with tasteful and not overdone arrangements. Suzy is an artist whose songs are catchy...there's something about the songs that make you remember them...like "Just Like the Weather" and "Hey Cinderella". I love "Souveniers"! One comes to expect quality when you hear a Suzy Bogguss CD and she never disappoints. She never compromised either.....which is the reason she's not a megastar like the whiny, overblown McBride, McEntire or Hill. Suzy's music is very underrated and beautiful! This CD is a great example!

I bought this album because I'd heard one song off it, which was "Good night." After getting the album and giving it a listen through, I've been nothing but pleased.
Suzy is an excellent contemporary country artist. I tend to be a fan of older country like Merle Haggard, or fringe country like Dwight Yoakam, but Suzy definately pleases on this album.
