I enjoyed the music in the movie and really love this CD and the artist's style. Lots of acoustical guitar and violin along with great vocals make this relaxing and enjoyable.

If you're American and don't know who Sondre Lerche is, go rent Dan in Real Life. It's a great movie, and Lerche did the music. It will give you a good idea of what you're in for here. However, his albums are much much more. He blends jazz and alternative into a sound that is at once hopeful and melancholy. A consistently great feel that you'd have to be crazy not to enjoy.
Release Date March 09, 2004
Gorgeous and refined melodies always come from the pen of Sondre Lerche. His tunes are lush, memorable and singable all combined together. "Stupid Memory" with its hauntingly beautiful pedal steel guitar part is one of the most unique songs I have heard. "Two Way Monologue" and "It's too Late" are also equally memorable, but really they are all gems. This type of refined musicality is rare today, so if you haven't heard him yet, you MUST!

I stole this CD from my wife a few months ago, and just got around to listening to it. This is the first that I have heard from this man, and I am blown away. This doesn't sound like the same old s#!t to me. There is a very distinct sound here. I am confused at how he uses these Jazz/off the wall chords and incorporates them into pop perfection. Amazingly beautiful sound. I love the energy in his songs.
Plus, there is plenty of witty songwriting going on here. First track, Airport Taxi Reception, hooked me into his sound and each song is just as rewarding. The track Phantom Punch will blow your ears out in the best way possible. If you are new to Sondre Lerche, I would say pick this album up and hopefully you will have a similar experience ... This is a great CD, excellent "easy listening" (in a good way) jazz-pop music. A great work by Sondre Lerche. I am looking forward to his next CD.
Release Date September 23, 2003
I first discovered this album, as well as Sondre Lerche, about 3 months ago when I was hurting from the loss of Elliott Smith and looking for a living substitute, as bad as that sounds. This album certainly filled the void. Although far poppier and much more upbeat than most of my favorite albums, this CD has earned a special place on the top of the shelf for having a personality of it's own. The haunting "you know so well" and the beautifully crafted diamond of a title track make this EP well worth the cash if you want to hear some first rate, alive and healthy songwriting sung.
