All Hope Is Gone (Special Edition CD/DVD)

by: Slipknot

Release Date August 26, 2008
Slipknot never fail to impress me. When you talk about "ambition" in music, Slipknot epitomizes ambition. ALL HOPE IS GONE is no different from other Slipknot albums in the sense of capitolizing on ambition and creativity. It serves as another strong addtion to Slipknot's discography.

".execute" serves an excellent intro to ALL HOPE IS GONE as it is representative of the sounds and ideas that ALL HOPE IS GONE pushes. "Gemantra (The Killing Name)" is where the real meat lies, serving as a fine opening track. From the jagged opening guitar riffs of "Gemantra", you can tell the "masked freaks" are going to take you for quite a trip, as always. They may also drag you to hell with them along the way, if you know what I mean, but ... Read More:

let me start out by saying that slipknot is something that you have to have a taste for, so if you don't like it don't listen to it! anyway this self titled album is a great cd, it features some of their earlier work such as eyeless, and wait and bleed. the band its self consists of 9 members: sid wilson(DJ), corey taylor(lead vocals), jim root(rythem guitarist), mick thompson(lead guitarist), paul gray(bassist), shaun crahan(percussion), chris ferhn(percussion), craig jones(sampler), joey jordison(drums). needless to say, its a big band that packs one hell of a punch! oh and to those who said sid does nothing for the band, your wrong! he's a great dj, and only does what needs to done so that he's not over-bearing! i geuss in closing i'll say ... Vol. 3: The Subliminal Verses

by: Slipknot

Release Date May 25, 2004
So this is where the force of nature has led: to Vol. 3 The Subliminal Verses. Oh, yeah. It's still Slipknot, just a little more alt-rock leaning and less like a tornado of guitars and drums and growls. Which may seriously, seriously piss off some of their fans.
The self-titled was brilliant, the sound of a completely new wave of music coming into its own. They sounded like the musical prodigys from hell, riffing and bashing through what will probably always be the album of their career. The tightly-wound experimental bleeps and horror soundtrack SFx will probably never make their way to the forefront again of their sound again, very sadly. Iowa was harsh and "bare-bones", basically just severely downtuned guitars and the same brutal tribal ... Read More:

Iowa

by: Slipknot

Release Date August 28, 2001
I bought this album a couple weeks after it came out. Left behind was decent, and I was really into the new metal fad going on at the time. Since then, I've gotten into black metal, death metal, deathcore, and pretty much any type of metal you can imagine. From someone who listens to it all, I have to say that first off, this can not at all be classified as numetal, secondly, I think it's probably the best album they ever did. They just wanted to put something out that was brutal and violent, and I think they did a pretty good job. Again, I'm just stating what is my opinion and hope no one thinks that I'm trying to convince people to buy it.

Release Date July 26, 2005
If you are a slipknot fan, you mush have this album. I think the quality of the work on this album is actually better than their vol 8 album, but I know I am in the minority. This has a broader range of sound, from club type music to the death metal grind. The vocalist are not corey taylor polished, but appropriate for the music. The sound does have a bit of the Iowa release death sound. This import copy is almost impossible to find anywhere other than online, so purchase from a seller that you have used before and trust, because a lot of folks are selling CD-R's. Read the listing carefully!!! I got a great copy here, and I hope you will to. Favorite songs Slipknot, Only One, Tattered and Torn. also note, there is a bonus hidden track on this ... Read More:

Of course, because it is a slipknot album and they rock, the album definately has potential... however Corey's INCREDIBLY bad vocals on the album destroy any chance of this being "the greatest live album ever" Do yourself a favor, buy the Disaterpieces DVD.... and you'll see Corey in all his glory, without his voice all messed up.....you want greatest live album ever it's Disaterpieces, not this waste of 20 bucks. His voice is beyond TERRIBLE in the album..... almost to the point where you wonder if they even listened to this before they released it. No lie, it seriously sounds like someone else singing Slipknot songs.....dont waste your time with this, get Disasterpieces....
