The Life Aquatic Studio Sessions

Glad another reviewer pointed out "Seu" is the equivolent to "Mr.", and here I was thinking it was a pretty cool first name. DOH!

Overall, the "Studio Sessions" album a very pleasant breath of fresh air. It shares a similar tone to Nick Drake's "Pink Moon", which is also another outstanding acoustic album. Like many, I was enchanted by the Jorge scenes in "Life Aquatic", which compelled me to check out the soundtrack. Was very glad to see he has a seperate album.

"Changes" and "Quicksand" (never knew it was a Bowie song, as I thought it was a Dinosaur Jr. original the whole time) are my fave tracks, or well, of the ones not already on the original movie score. Jorge's version of "Rebel Rebel" is so sultry...dream-like, ... Read More:

Amazing amazing album from Seu Jorge (what is his last name???)...bought this on a whim, while getting his Life Aquatic Sessions. His voice is that paradox of being cool and nonchalant, yet emotion-filled at all the right tugs of heart-strings. I'm emo but Jorge sure knows how to sing to you, and you'd thought you're the only one listening to him. wow. be still my heart.

Man!!! Seu Jorge is AWESOME!!! He's voice is so adaptable yet he never loses that raw Brasilian charm. And not just the language it's the way he delivers. Always fresh! He beats are definitely addictive. I can't get Funk Baby out my head. And as a live performer you must see him if get the chance.

I have been a big fan of Seu Jorge since I first heard his Bowie covers in the movie "My Life Aquatic." After playing around with Youtube, I discovered his work with Ana Carolina. I found a portuguese version of Damien Rice's Blower's Daughter that they did, and that was the closer. I had to have the album. One of my best recent purchases. It comes with a regionless DVD, which did not work with my software on my computer but had no problems on my DVD player. The DVD contains extra material. Almost every song on this album is great on its own merit. Highly recommended.

I am a huge Seu Jorge fan and therefore, I am very biased. Seu Jorge can do no wrong with that deep raspy-velvet voice, that charisma, and that acutely attuned sense of the world and its music...he is "dude extraordinaire." Seu Jorge does everything right on his new cd, America Brasil O Disco which is energized by strong funky sambas, totally playful and joyous in his own style, while respecting tradition. My special Seu Jorge anthem is Mina Do Condomino, and with all the makings of an extended jam that could go all night...maybe a few days...this infectious track has got to be way off the hook when experienced live. When you need a little break from the excitement, you can sit back and float with a couple of sweet softer tracks like Cuidar De Mim, and Mariana. ... Read More:
