I've been a hugh fan of Sergio Mendes for the last 25 years and pretty much all CD's are really great except for maybe a few.
And this one for me is one that fell in the category of average to below average for someone like Sergio Mendes.
You might be a little disappointed if what you have in mind is the smooth jazzy bossanova type of music typical from Sergio Mendes.

Sergio Mendes & Brasil 66's hits are pretty much included in this CD. What a wonderful beat and what memories. I highly recommend this CD to anyone wanting a good selection of his early hits. I found all the ones I loved on this CD plus a couple of others that were a joy to discover.

Herb Alpert Presents Sergio Mendes & Brasil '66

This supposedly remastered CD sounds bright & thin with no body or bass. It's so awful that I had to take it off my stereo within seconds of playing it. I even tried to improve the sound by using a treatment available on the market to improve the sound, but that didn't even work since this CD sounds so bad. Releasing this terrible sounding CD is a disgrace. The A&M label should be ashamed of themselves!

Timeless

Usually I like the new mixes but this one doesn't do it for me. The old Sergio Mendes albums stand alone and I much prefer the purity and smoothness of his early sound. I gave it three because the cover is awesome.

I haven't heard many of these songs in 30+ years, and I was singing along with most of them the first time I listened. There were so many tracks and the price was very good. I highly recommend this CD.

I BOUGHT THIS FOR ONE SONG ALONE--IT HAS THE SONG "ALIBIS" SUNG BY JOE PIZZULO (LEAD SINGER IN THE GROUP)--A GREAT CATCHY TUNE FROM 1984 WHICH I FOUND A LOT OF PEOPLE BESIDES ME LOVE AND WERE LOOKING FOR!!
I WAS LOOKING FOR THIS SONG FOR A LOOONG TIME, BUT DID'NT KNOW WHO THE ARTIST WAS.

This is my all-time favorite Brazil '66 album. Sexy, sensual, exudes a feeling of warm weather and warm emotions. Captivating rhythms, poetic, evocative lyrics, with lovely, intricate vocal and musical arrangements. A joy from beginning to end and a must-have for romantic evenings.
