Love Sarah Brightman, however, this CD doesn't have one song on it in English. While I enjoy a mixture of her other CDs that are bilingual, this entire CD consists of songs in other languages I don't understand. Very disappointing. Played it thru only once. Probably won't play it again. No speakers on my computer so I can't "test run" these. My own fault, I guess.

I am 72 and have had the good fortune to listen to many of the great pianists "in person" at various musical venues over a lifetime. I have also developed an extensive music library over the years. Comparing artists is a waste of time and effort as each has his or her own particular strengths, weaknesses and nose grabbing abilities. I've loved the interpretations of Rubinstein, Horowitz, Lipatti, Perahia, Haskill, Cherkassky, Tanyel, Lupu, Tirino, Hess, de Larrocha, Argerich, etc. etc. This does not classify me as an expert; but only as a lover of great composition and exceptional pianistic artistry. The World's Favorite Piano Music

If you a piano student, your teacher will probably assign you at least half of the compositions in this CD. You need to hear how they should be played. This is a wonderful CD to use to help you learn the pieces. These piano selections are not the "World's Favorites" for nothing - they are memorable and enjoyable for young and old alike. I love this CD.

What stands out about this disc is how scrupulous Cliburn is in avoiding any scratches. I cant find anything close to an error, in either piece. It's a marvel of a recording. Not only that, the clarity of his playing per se is a marvel to behold. The pedal never blurs anything together. Runs were articulate. The orchestra was also crisp and sharp.

The only extremely minor thing I could find wrong with this piece is that sometimes Cliburn slows down during fast passages, when a more brusque approach would have worked. Perhaps a more impersonal, mechanical, or machine-like approach would have made the fast passages more fluent, more in tempo. These slowdowns can be found in the first movement of Tchaikovsky.
