Loved it! It had all of the great songs on there, and is well worth the money. Actually, it's probably not enough money that I paid for the large, inclusive collection of hits by Sam Cooke! This CD is wonderful. I highly recommend it for anyone who is a huge Sam Cooke fan. All original songs. Great sound quality. Includes all of the hits - and not just a few hits and a lot of other stuff that was never a hit. Very good collection. Whoever put this together did a great job.

I knew what I wanted...one song that was hard to find. It turns out that I like the entire CD...not at all surprising considering this is Sam Cooke. I own a lot of Sam Cooke music and I admit there may be a song or two that I skip over, but it's hard to resist the sound of Sam's legendary voice. I was thrilled that I was able to find this on Amazon. The CD is new and arrived in the amount of time stated, and I got it at a great price.

This is my favorite secular cd of Sam's. He seems to be coming full circle. His voice had matured and the cd had a more soul and gospel, and raw feel - you know, like unassimilative black music. I love his other works, but his vocals seems to be watered down to appeal to the mainstream audience.

I understand he had to have two faces. One for his folks, the real self, and a water down version for the mainstream(mo money).

Why is it that so many of Sam Cooke's records do not have "Change is Gonna Come" on them. I had to trace this through Amazon and then had to buy used to get this record. But all is worth it when you hear the first words of his magnum opus. What this man would have done if he had not been tragically taken from us is anyone's guess. The good thing is that this record is strong throughout with Sam Cooke's distinctive voice and phrasing all the way through. This record has its share of overly sweet tunes which were the way to get onto the whit edominated television stations and radios during his early days. Night Beat

Night Beat, the Live Harlem cd, and his time with the Soul Stirrers are the best of Sam. With Night Beat, he appeared to be trying to get back to his roots. I am not particularly a fan of his water down, generally soulless pop creations. However, I do understand that he was trying to get that ever elusive mainstream dollar, and I guess realistically, he had to water down his music to attract them. I think with this production he was trying to bring back and hold on to his core black audience. Very few black geniuses could go into the mainstream as themselves - raw. They had to wear that mask. You know "we wear the mask" is a tiresome fixture. Ouch! My face is crackin'."
