Instead of going in depth on each album and describe each album in detail, i'm going to simply rate each album with how many stars I feel each album is worth based on the below criteria. I hope this helps you make a better decision on purchasing this album with a simple individual rating. If it doesn't help read another review.
5 stars- Classic, Album goes beyond description, Perfect in every way, Could remind you of a certain time or place, Lifetime replay value.
4.5 stars- Near Classic, Incredible album, Maybe only one song that is skippable or just overall doesn't quite deserve classic status. High replay value.

20th Century Masters - The Millennium Collection: The Best of Rusted Root

I'm a little disappointed with this cd. I own all of Rusted Root's cds and there are a lot of great songs that were left out of the "greatest hits". In fact, there are too many for me to list. Most notably, Cat Turned Blue and Where She Runs. If you are new to Rusted Root I suggest that you purchase each cd. They are one of my all-time faves, live and on disk. Also, there is a great Rusted Root DVD that is a must have. Peace Out.

Sadly, Powderfinger is by far a butcher. Otherwise, the originals are OK. Contains the classic Rusted Root but... Doesn't contain a full show. Mix is a little blurry.
Have heard other soundboards that sound awesome compared to these shows.

I dismissed this album and the band over the years not enjoying the follow albums to cruel sun and when I awoke. This album is a masterpiece of artistic genius and I owe the band a sincere apology for my lack of culture!

Wow. These guys are amazing. My brother likes them a lot, and he eventually got me into them, and now they're one of my favorite bands. This CD is amazing, it's got tribal aspects to it, originality, and is one of the best CD's I think I've heard in my entire life.

I've seen the band live 5 or 6 times since the mid 90's. Everytime, except for the last time I saw them (on tour for this record) was exceptional. Not only was the concert lackluster, but the cd was worse. Honestly not a single song on this cd impressed me enough to want to listen to it again. The songs seem ...forced. After a few weeks of giving it a chance, I gave up. I can't recommend this cd to anyone. Get Cruel Sun or When I Woke and leave it at that.

Evil Ways

This CD isn't worth buying.

It is only 28 minutes long. Two tracks are available on the original CD's. I didn't think that Evil Ways was anything special. Big White Bird isn't one of the better Rusted Root tunes. The only thing of interest is the slightly extended version of Cruel Sun (it is 10 minutes).

Note that this CD also comes packaged with the special edition of the Rusted Root live VHS tape. It comes in a special box, big enough to fit both the CD and the tape. If you are a Rusted Root fanatic, that is the one to get. But be careful, not all versions of the video tape come with the CD.

If you are looking for an introduction to Rusted Root, get When I woke.
