it was not love at first sight with "Release the Stars" for me. Even though I loved "Slideshow" I was expecting another "Want One", to be honest. Like another buyer wrote, it is not easy to overcome one's masterpiece and, in my humble opinion, he reached his with Want One. Don't take me wrong: the man is a genious. He's currently writing an Opera and he is definitely going towards attaining music perfection. Every song of his is a masterpiece on its own. "Release The Stars" is excellent but after giving it dozens of listens, I think it falls short against Rufus' previous works.
Beautiful Child or Poses moved me to tears the first time I heard them, their musicality is unbelievable.

At the age of 67 I thought there were no more musical discoveries or joys to be had. Then, whammo bammo, I heard Rufus singing "Zing Went the String of My Heart" and then "I Don't Know What It Is" and right there I bought all his C.D.s and DVDS. That simple. What a voice, what a composer, what a lyricist, what a personality, what a charmer, what an original. This is music to change your life. I'm going broke buying gift copies for friends. Everyone, without exception, is overwhelmed by what they hear. He is a beautiful child.

Okay, after killing myself and my boyfriend looking around the internet, this is NOT Rufus. If you take a listen to Rufus' self-titled debut album, which is titled "Rufus Wainwright" not just "Wainwright", you will see that the voices are drastically different, not even in the same world. I do not know why Amazon has linked this music to Rufus' bio, but it's not him...

R.W. does not even have a decent voice because it is sooo nasal. The only positive momentum that this atrocity should generate is to stir the interest up for the legendary Garland and help give Jim Bailey a career boost as he is the only one that can come close to recreating her magic. You could not pay someone to listen to this without getting sick or tired or bored at a minimum.
