In case anyone's wondering why the reviews are so mixed on this album, I'll clear it all up. Half of us want this album to be "Newforms Part 2" (or Part 3, technically) very badly. The other half of us appreciate the album on its own without the troubling "Newforms" comparison. I'm personally kind of in the middle, as I heard "In the Mode" long before "Newforms." Yes, "In the Mode" is pretty good, yes it's worth buying/ripping/stealing/taping/remixing/whatever, but damn, man. It sure as hell ain't "Newforms." But again, what is?

if you love ridiculously fast drum machine rhythms that repeat until you throw up, this double cd is for you.
anyone can create better music than this with a $500 korg electrotribe and a cheap vocal mic. try it yourself; you'll be surprised how well you do against this CD.

CD one:
cut 1 bad rap on a frenetic paced self important resonant filter gone wild rhythm
cut 2: sampled classical guitar, bass and drums (no live musicians) unbelievably repetitive intro
cut 3: too cool for school - the singer flies along- stop start crazy music continues with novice programmed fast drum programming- good luck using this as backround music.

Touching Down

This is definately not a dark DnB album. Those who are fans of that kind wouldn't really like this at first. I myself like dark DnB. Listen to this cd a good 3 or 4 times and you'll see theres a lot of thought put into it. This is a CD that will strongly grow on you, it did with me.

This album is way better than New Forms. I bought New Forms when it came out because I was looking for the D&B that actually came on this album. New Forms is more drawn out and "underground", but Return to V has shorter tracks, tighter compositions and more BASS to get yourself moving. This album has a couple of weak spots but only 2 or 3. The album runs as one whole track, with all the tracks blending in with each other. I would pump this at a party anyday, minus a couple songs. Track 5 is my favorite, I have never heard any bass like it and probably won't for some time. If you want a tight album with more bass than most people can handle, definitely pick this up. It is the only album I listen to in my car that I have to be cautious of blowing the speakers out. It ... Read More:
