Truth

At last a CD of Robben Ford I really liked again. In line with his first albums (although nog as good as Handful of blues, in my opinion his tour de force, hence the four stars). He's still the master of the "smooth-blues", with very tastefull guitar solos and jazz-influences. I know of only two guys who put so much jazz in their blues, Robben Ford and Melvin Taylor. And both are masters at their craft. I recommend it.

i love this cd,robben ford's playing,is flawless,on this recording.tasty lines,infused,with great blues,funk,jazz,and rock.great songs on here,there are both originals,and a couple of standards on here as well,including,don't let me be misunderstood,and foghat's,i just want to make love to you.this cd,has it all,and is essential listening,for any fan of great blues guitar.robben ford,is one of my all time favorite guitar players,and if you listen to this cd,you will find out why.from the opening track,rugged road,you will be hooked.great cd.

Talk to Your Daughter

This is one of the few guitar recordings that is stellar from front to back. Awesome guitar sound, tone, phrasing . A textbook of blues/jazz licks and phrases. Most important is that all the tunes are great and not just material created so the improvisor can blow . The production has been accused in one review as too slick . Well yes it is polished but lets focus on the content which to me is without a doubt Robbens best recording. This one will stand the test of time to a far greater degree than his subsequent material. Think of how important Blow by Blow is to Beck . Well that is polished or maybe even slick but it is THE Beck recording as Talk to your daughter is THE recording for Robben.

This guy is my favorite blues guitarist. He's fresh, talented and a super nice guy as well. I'm a blues bassist and member of the Alabama Jazz & Blues Federation. Robben Ford was the headliner at an all-day annual concert under the train-shed in Montgomery. I had a few moments to speak with him before he came on stage. He was very humble and gracious, yet so impressive as an artist and songwriter. Excellent 3-piece band. This is my favorite CD by him. His DVD's are good too!

Jing Chi

Really excellent fusion album, leaning closer to the 70's jazz rock than many current so called fusion bands, who sound more like smooth jazz. This is real, no fluff here, just lean and mean fusion. Occasional keyboards add a nice touch, but it's mostly guitar/bass/drums (a bit of tasteful vocals on a couple of tracks). Robben Ford blends blues with jazz and rock perfectly, where other players play a lot of blues and a bit of jazz. He's more into the feel than raw chops, but make no mistake, he has plenty of chops when he chooses to use them. So does the rest of the band, restrained yet never limited. Tiger Walk

just wanted to throw my 2 cents in and echo the other reviews...i'm lucky to live in the sf bay area, where robben comes to play every year...this is only the 3rd cd of his i've purchased, but far away my favorite...more jazz influenced than the other recordings i have heard, but don't let that stop you...this all instrumental cd really rocks. if you're a fan, go out and buy this cd; you won't be disappointed.

I've got most Robben's Ford discography and telling the truth is very very good since he started with THE CHARLES FORD BAND following with contributions with his brothers PATRICK and above all with MARK and finishing with the already very extensive discography under his own name is really a pleasure to listen this so peculiar MODERN ELECTRIC BLUES where he blends several concepts of this music environment as is JAZZ-FUSION and BLUES-ROCK among others. This record 'Blue Moon' as all his others you must listen it with attention to grasp the lot of quality the record emits and the great guitar work that on the other hand is already usual and gets very high level as ever.

Supernatural

This CD was unavailable for a while. Agony. I'd heard the song "If" on a radio show and wanted to buy it THAT DAY and couldn't. I wrote Mr. Ford a fan letter and he most graciously wrote back. He thanked me for the kind words and said "it is my favorite CD of my own work."

"If" and "Don't Lose your Faith in Me" are heart melting and I've listened to them a zillion times; but the rest of the CD is slammin'. I can't imagine my life without this music, it's so great. Robben Ford is rightly considered one of the greatest guitarists of this time. But I love the way he sings too. Simple and true.

Mystic Mile

There are several great cuts on this album, and some incredible playing throughout. In particular, Worried Life Blues sports one of the most overwhelmingly awesome blues solos you'll ever hear. That one cut is worth the price of admission.

I have had this CD for some time. This CD got ruined and I needed to replace it. I love this CD and my favorite song is "Heartbreakin Blues". There is no equal to the way Mark Ford does this song. LOVE THIS CD. (Did I mention this before?)
