Troubleby: Ray LaMontagne Release Date September 14, 2004 That voice! It makes me think of some of the best, most soulful singers ever. Otis redding. Bobby Womack. Van Morrison. Not because Ray sounds like any of them, but because his voice just has that very special, warm sound that touches your soul. And he's a damn fine songwriter, too. Trouble, Shelter, All The Wild Horses, and my favorite - Jolene - are wonderful. This wasn't just a promising debut album, when it was released, it was a very convincing one: Ray got it right the first time around. |

Till the Sun Turns Blackby: Ray LaMontagne Release Date August 29, 2006 The hit on the cd is assume I was hoping for a little more rock. I have had it on with people over for dinner it is perfect for that. He reminds me of Ben Harper the same sort of somberness but not as much rock. |

Joleneby: Ray LaMontagne Release Date May 14, 2007 I guess the most important point of this review is that this release is not just a "radio edit" of the song...it's a complete re-recording featuring more instruments and even some backing vocals. Somehow, though, it works...a very nice alternative to the original. Plus, it makes eating $10 much easier when you get TWO new songs instead of just one :) The cover of Gnars Barkley's "Crazy" is simply amazing...Ray's voice and interpretation of the song are both top notch. The lyrics really stand out...a compliment to GB and their songwriting. A highly recommended purchase! |

Live from Bonnaroo 2005by: Ray Lamontagne Release Date December 06, 2005 I thought this album was just so so. Ray is an excellent song writer, performer, musician. I think the albums production is pretty bad. It sounds really compressed. Live is hard to do but c'mon. Such a fantastic artist.. They really should have focused on the sound quality. |

How Comeby: Ray Lamontagne Release Date November 06, 2006 Since discovering Ray Lamontange a year or so ago, I have been blown away by the depth of his lyrics and the emotions his instrumentals add to the mix. This 2 song CD is a great addition for those who have his other CD's or a suberb introduction for those who do not. While the acustic version is very good, the electric version will draw you into his world and his frustration with the priorities in our lives. |
