CD-Charts Music : Let's Go

Let's Go

by: Rancid

Release Date June 14, 1994
I'm going to go ahead and say it:

Best f**king punk rock album ever made.

The spirit and feeling and attitude behind this album forged every idea and inspiration I have ever had about punk rock. There were a few other albums that helped create my punk rock ideals, such as Bad Religions 'All Ages', Swingin' Utters 'Juvenile Product of the Working Class' and Propagandhis 'Less Talk, More Rock', but I have to say this album struck the hardest chord. 'Let's Go' is raw and real and when you listen to it, it makes you feel what punk rock is. It's hard to explain until you've heard it, but that is the only way I can explain listening to this album.

It's been many years since I picked up this record, but after blowing ... Read More:

Life Won't Wait

by: Rancid

Release Date June 30, 1998
Rancid hasn't released anything since this album that I can stand... but this album is them at their best and their most varied. Whereas "Let's Go" is a straight forward punk record and "Out Come the Wolves" is more ska influenced, "Life Won't Wait" is varied. There's punk, ska, big band almost horns on a couple songs... there's a real gritty Chicago-style harmonica present... most every song here is great. This album is the high water mark.

Rancid

by: Rancid

Release Date August 01, 2000
Rancid was at their best when doing the experimental ska and reggae of their previous album Life Won't Wait. But I believe that this album was created because of the backlash of fans who disliked them experimented and just wanted punk rock, nothing more. Yeah, way to keep your integrity, Rancid.
As for this album, there are definitely some gems, but Rancid are at their best doing ska, reggae, or fun 70's style punk rock, like in ...AOCTW or the Operation Ivy days. Only a select few songs on this record contain the Rancid spirit I've been seeing in their albums; and those are Radio Havana, Let Me Go, and It's Quite Alright, while nearly every song on Life Won't Wait and Wolves contain the "Rancid spirit". WTF is up with the vocals? Lars Frederiksen, you are NOT ... Read More:

by: NOFX, Rancid

Release Date March 05, 2002
NOFX is an allright punk band, but in my opinion Rancid is a hell of alot better. Much better, and this album even proves it. Every song that Rancid covered rawked and every NOFX cover of Rancid sounded pathetic, almost like a mockery it was so so bad. Here's the fact, compared to Rancid, NOFX tremendously sucks donkey dong.

Tibetan Freedom Concert; New York City, June 1997

by: Chaksam-pa, Alanis Morissette, Bjork, Rancid, Beastie Boys, Cibo Matto, Beck, De La Soul, The Fugees, Rage Against the Machine

Release Date November 04, 1997
The Tibetan Freedom Concert in 1996 when shown on MTV changed my life forever when I discovered what was going on in Tibet. And when I got my first glimpse into Buddhist culture. This CD goes over 2 years of the Tibetan Freedom Concert. It is the first 2 that were held in 1996 and then in 1997.

The CD is not just a youth approach to doing something for the Buddhist nation of Tibet, it's a celebration of Tibetan Culture. Many artists from Tibet appear along with bands like Rancid and The Beastie Boys on this CD. There are also chants from Buddhist monks. Eddie Vedder and Mike McCready of Pearl Jam play an acoustic version of "Yellow Ledbetter" that makes this CD well worth the money you paid for it. There is also a track that appears only on this CD from Rancid ... Read More:
