Prototypes

Release Date June 06, 2006
I heard "Je ne te connais pas" on that Mitsubishi commercial (isn't that a lame way of finding new music?) and really liked it. I checked Prototypes out online and liked a couple of the other tracks that I heard, so I got the album. This is a fun CD with a few good tracks--I listen to them now as part of my gym-workout lineup. I don't think this is a CD I could listen to over and over again just for fun, but for energetic workout music, it's OK.

I've looked for CD up and down at all my local retailers and couldn't find it anywhere. That's a shame because this is an extremely solid metal release.

The trend now-a-days is metal must have either extremely harsh vocals or a mixture of post-hardcore screaming and singing. While I do listen to those styles as well it's refreshing to hear a metal band just sing and have really great instrumentation to boot, while staying very honest and truthful to the genre.

Check out the music previews and if you're into just no frills solid straight forward metal you'll love this album.

Trinity

by: Prototype

Release Date January 27, 2004
Highly Progressive and Very Melodic. I predict once the metal movement leaves behind the screaming rhetoric of nu-metal, Prototype will finally be given proper credit for their work.

Right now, metal fans just can't accept a unique vocal style or beautiful melody... they sit and listen to their old Iron Maiden, Rush, Metallica and Led Zeplin recordings (completely entranced) but are currently unwilling to accept these styles in a contemporary form.

Metal fans have fallen pray to some primal, aggressive and simplistic style that should have remained in the realm of punk imho - rename Nu-Metal to Nu-Punk-Metal - and make room on your shelf for Prototype in your "Neo-Metal" collection.

If you enjoy the complexity of Meshuggah, ... Read More:

CD-Charts Music : Acid Technology

Acid Technology

by: Prototype 909

Release Date September 22, 1993
This was supposedly recorded in a weekend, in classic jam spirit with each member 'feeding of each others' energies and ideas.' The result is a dense, druggy complicated mix of a few core analog synthesizers twisting and melting, overlapping and fading in and out of each other. The sequences and patterns these three guys come up with are consistently inventive and the tweakage is intense and fluid-2nd to none. Though they continued to work this way live, they largely abandoned this free-form acid techno jam style in favor of more straighforward techno trax on the subsequent albums. In techno, there are so few interesting full albums, so few real masterpieces, but this is definitely one of them.

Transistor Rhythm

by: Prototype 909

Release Date May 23, 1995
This is good minimal techno. If you like the sound of old analog instruments, or 1992-era techno, you'll love this. It's definitely repetitive, though. If you like your electronic music to be interesting, textured, and varied, this will probably bore you. If you like Kraftwerk, Richie Hawtin and their ilk, then buy this immediately.
