Although entitled "Guitar Masterpieces" the music is MOSTLY big band with some guitar lead. This CD does not feature the guitar. Very disappointing.....
Release Date July 13, 2004
This two disc CD contains much great peaceful music some of which you may had heard before. It is well worth adding to anyones classical music collection. Play this at the end of a hectic day and appreciate how music really can help calm you down.

Each note is a jewel that he performs with such life that you feel your heart beating to his rhythm. His left hand is amazingly clean but the stregnth and dynamics of his right hand could perform CPR without placing his hand on you. Gracias Dios para Celedonio haciendo Pepe !

Bedroom Adagios
The music is lovely. However, I am confused as to why one particular piece is played 3 different times on the CDs. There are 3 different titles, but the melody is exactly the same.

God, do I love this CD. A friend of mine introduced me to it. He, however, had a CD-R. I bought the authentic CD and was even more impressed. The difference in the sound quality is amazing. The CD-R sounds like a crummy radio station with poor reception. The real CD is crisp, clear, full of the nuances and subtleties that makes music enjoyable. My friend now uses his CD-R for a coaster and he, too, has purchased the authentic CD.

Tastefully selected from DG catalog of historic late 20th century classical guitar performances. The selections are well performed, well balanced in selection, and remastered. There are no bum or out of place tracks. 78 minutes of music per disk. Selections by Segovia, Williams, Romero, Bream, Yepes, Fernandez, Sollscher, and Pena.
Release Date August 27, 1991
Yea. That's pretty much a summation of this product. On this disc you get a almost all of the major guitarists of today. This of course means you take the good with the bad. It's a great disc because the pieces are staples and the performers are wonderfully varied. Pity David Russell & the LAGQ couldn't have been on it. For what it is it's a wonderful disc. Great intro to the classical guitar.

One of the best recordings of Son Jalisciences ever made. In my opinion, it rivals the two Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlan sones jaliscienses recordings made in th 1950s and 1960s("Sones de Jalisco" and "Mejor del Mundo"). Ausuncion Casillas' ("La Becerrra") vihuela can be heard very strongly in this recording. The guitarron player, Leon Espinoza is fantastic. He and Casillas make a great pair. Here Espinoza on "Los Arrieros." Miguel "El Trompetas" Martinez plays the trumpet solo on many of the recordings but also plays with the second trumpet on some. I think the second trumpet is "El Churpias" Jesus Cordoba. This shows how Mariachi Mexico established the two trumpet playing style. Check out Martinez on Camino Real de Colima. Pepe Gutierrez sings ... Read More:
