I can't remember the last movie I saw that my face was tired from smiling and I wished they had seat belts on the movie theater seats because I was twitching to jump up and dance and sing. I thought the movie and the soundtrack were both terrific! And oh, to relive this era....
The theater production has not been in my town, but I'm planning to go to Vegas to see it!
PS. I would describe as a chick flick. The only part my guy would have liked was the last scene with the guys and their 70's dance moves - that's because that's how my guy still dances!

The movie was good, but if you haven't seen it or have no desire to the soundtrack stands on its own.

It is my understanding that the song "Falling Slowly" has become the anthem, but in my opinion it belongs to "If You Want Me". Irglova's haunting and mesmerizing vocals on the first round of the chorus gave me goosebumps upon first listen and brought tears to my eyes (literally). I was so captivated I listened to it four or five times in a row, and now I can't get enough.

This is the kind of music that makes you want run out and take guitar and/or piano lessons and compose a song for your loved one.

This CD was amazing! Listening to it made me feel like I was watching the movie all over again. And the last song on the disc was beautifully written and makes me love Sex and the City all over again!

Across The Universe [Deluxe Edition]

After viewing "Across the Universe" I decided that the soundtrack was a must have for My library. I am a genuine Beatles fan and generally don't like their music altered, but this was a delightful departure and I didn't mind the different versions at all. The fresh aspect of each song kept it new and interesting. There is only one other CD I own that is as good as far as counterfeit Beatles and that is the soundtrack from
"I am Sam"

I think it goes without saying that Quentin Tarantino puts together the best soundtracks for his movies. This one is no exception. A collection of great songs that bring you right back into the movie with a sprinkling of great dialogue. Perfect.

Happy Feet

Wow. I should have carefully read the reviews. There are some tracks on here that spark memories of the movie (purpose of a soundtrack, perhaps?). There are tracks that seem to be missing. The tracks that are here are... out of order? What gives with that? Didn't the producer of this product watch the movie? Do the studios have any idea why we don't care to support their RIAA blunders, or their 'product'.

This is a lousy excuse for a soundtrack. It offers precious little to 'add' to the film experience. And I'll be sure to avoid a Warner Brothers / Atlantic Records collaboration in the future. How disappointing.

I'm Not There

Let me state upfront that, while I was rather apprehensive of the movie concept as such, I ended up really liking the non-delinear interpretation of Bob Dylan's life by director Todd Haynes. The structure of the film had the potential to turn this into a (well-intended) disaster, but it turned out to be quite the enjoyable surprise. When you watch the film. you hear a lot of Dylan songs, mostly from Dylan himself, and once in a while fragments from Dylan-covers also can be heard. The "I'm Not There" is a collection of those covers.
