Arcana

This cd is an underground classic. Songs like Sublime, In the middle of a dream and Pretty Things rock with an undeniable melodic force. Muse came out of the Miami/South Beach music scene of the mid to late nineties, got signed to Atlantic records, recorded Arcana in L.A., moved to Atlanta and toured with the likes of Collective Soul, Luscious Jackson, Space, Porno for Pyros, Julianna Hatfield, Cracker, Evan Dando, The Cure and Live.
What happened after that is shrouded in Rock & Roll History. What is known is that they lost their drummer to the life of a DJ, fell on hard times and sold the name MUSE to a management company representing a band from ENGLAND...

House Tornado/The Fat Skier

It's always great when you can find "new" material from a band that doesn't exist anymore. Even though I already have "House Tornado," I didn't hesitate to buy this CD for "The Fat Skier" ep. The songs are excellent and the production is very good too (wasn't sure what to expect from an ep). An earlier reviewer had commented that "Soul Soldier" wasn't included, which is true, but it can be found on "In a Doghouse."

I'm a hard core Muse fan, and when I first listen to "Super Massive Black Hole" I was confused... but the truth is this album is great, it may not sound as "powerful" as Origin Of Symmetry but has got Muse's signature all over it, the DVD is awesome, Muse is unbeatable in live performances...

The CD is kind of expensive though, but the extra track "Glorious" is simply... GLORIOUS! Buy this item if you are a fan, it's really worth it.

Muse are one of the most exciting bands of today. They are definitely an acquired taste, and if you don't like the epic stadium-rock of bands like Queen, you might not really like this record. Also, the keyboards sound very '70's prog-rock-ish. Some of that took a little time for the record to grow on me, but it didn't take long and was more than worth the time.

The record has three Muse classics: "Starlight," "Map of the Problematique," and "Invincible." "Starlight," the big hit from the record, is melodic and has a beautiful melody, one of the group's strongest songs. "Map of the Problematique" almost sounds heavenly, with its futuristic sound and its keybaords. The guitar riffs on this one are interesting, too. "Invincible" is more top-notch tunefulness ... Elyria

Excellent debut from Georgia band Faith and the Muse. The songs here are very memorable, unique, and there's tons of variety to be had. There's a very adamant folk element to the music, which really helps set this band apart from the typical goth fare. One-half of this duo is an ex-Christian Death bandmember, and it shows. But the music is no mere imitation; it stands on its own quite well. If more goth bands like this start popping up in the South, we've got a lot to look forward to.

This recording by FAITH AND THE MUSE is by far the most coherent. Not enough to say that it is their best, since I still believe ANWYYN BENEATH THE WAVES is their best rendition to date. Certainly it is more than worth listening to. It catches and surprises. You may be hooked with the power that springs from the initial tracks and then be transported literally to "The Amber Room", maybe only a step away from heaven. The guitar work is excellent, not to mention the interplay between the voice and the walls of sound. Enjoy it.
