Britpop is always swarming over the pond, in different incarnations -- retro rock, mellifluous pop, whatever.
But Muse has something special -- this magnificent young band is perhaps the most powerful Britpop band to emerge in years. If you want comparisons, they're equal parts Radiohead and Led Zeppelin, with a unique sound that is both melodic and raw. Few debuts are as intense as Muse's "Showbiz."
A steady piano melody ripples by, followed by some steady drumming. That, in turn, segues into the expansive bombastic rock'n'roll of "Sunburn." Matt Bellamy sits in the middle of the song, singing in a trembly voice, "I'll feel/A guilty conscience grow/And I'll feel/A guilty conscience grow." Then he bursts into an anguished ... Read More:

Wow, I love this album. The gorgeous blending of these women's voices is spine-chilling. I love their eclectic mix of Celtic songs, traditional Appalachian songs and soul numbers. Incredible. Thanks!

Unlike the disappointment that was Plug in Baby, Muse's second single release from the album Origin of Symmetry is a powerful, grandiose piece which is a perfect example of what rock is all about. Bellamy's soaring, intense vocals, and the brilliant grinding guitars combine to create a song which is unlike much of Muse's earlier work - it seems that they are veering away from the Radiohead stereotype, towards territory which is entirely their own. Definitely five star material.

great band, great music. DVD with "old" hits is a bonus but i can only watch it in computer 'cos Im in Iceland but this one is for US and Canada - Anyway, my mistake!
I cannot say this cd is the best from Muse so far but whatever, all of them are good. Bellamy is a genious, no doubt.
