I am a musician at heart (read: critical and difficult to please, but very moved by good music) and this is my absolute favorite christmas album. The arrangements are incredible and the performances will blow you away. This is a must have for those who truly appreciate music and even those who just love christmas music (who doesn't?). Even my hubby, who listens to rap and thinks choir music is not cool, looks forward to the Choir's Christmas concert every year.
I'm lucky enough to live in Salt Lake where I can see them perform, and this album contains most of my favorite performances from the past several years. the mormon tabernacle choir and orchestra perform weel and sing xmas songs you won-t hears elsewhere but the addition of sissel as solist in some classic and typic nordic xmas carols make the product an absolue MUST try hearing "mitt hjærte alltid vanker" or the danish song celebrating the pureness of the snow and you will understand what i mean : what a VOICE she has !!![she makes fables even of gregorian songs ]

The King's Singers join The Mormon Tabernacle Choir on this latest Christmas CD, and it is wonderful from beginning to end. I've long been an admirer of The King's Singers, with their wide-ranging repertoire and cheeky, dry humor. And they have several stand-out performances here, both with the Choir and on their own. I love especially their rapid-fire take on "Jingle Bells" and the lovely "La peregrinación." The Choir sounds absolutely glorious here as well, from the soaring "The First Nowell" to the brand-new processional "Rejoice and Be Merry". But my favorite tracks are those where the two groups join forces - most especially on the new Mack Wilberg setting of "O Holy Night" which is ...transcendent. Here's the full track listing:

Those who are deeply familiar with the Mormon choral traditions in composition, arrangement, and/or performance will be somewhat less surprised than other listeners at the beauty of Mack Wilberg's oecumenical Requiem (to parts of the Romish Catholic text in Latin of the Missa pro defunctis mixed with other texts in English). Love Is Spoken Here

Peaceful, beautiful, choir and orchestral (I much prefer this over the choir's tradition of singing with the organ) hymns. We have kids of all ages in our home, but this music makes MOM feel great. My teenage daughter said one arrangement gave her goosebumps. A little slice of heaven for our home!
