As a hardcore Mariah Carey fan, I was so very excited for this album. I had been waiting for it ever since I finished listening to her fantastic 2005 comeback album "The Emancipation of Mimi". Mariah herself said that this new album would be the dessert to the main course that was TEOM. Unfortunately, that's not true. This album is such a departure for Mariah...it's vapid, soulless pop-n-b. The beats are run-of-the-mill, the lyrics are sophmoric, and all in all, each song sounds like it could have been done better by Beyoncé. This is the worst album in Mariah's discography. I absolutely love this CD. It is one of my favorite albums ever. I give it 5 stars because I like everyone song, and can listen to it over and over and over again. I just love her voice and her versatility. Mariah fans trust me you will NOT be disappointed. She did her thing on this one.

Very good CD but I prefer the dance versions of Mariah music better. Sometimes her albums are a bit slow and I wish she would pick up the pace a bit. She is capable. I know she can do it. Anyway, Mariah is pretty awesome...I love her!!!!!

Great experience. Lightning fast order processing and the used product was even better than expected. I was fortunate to find Mariah Carey in the SACD format at all, much less in such great condition. Woodys-books is highly recommended. Woody Hunt is one of the good guys.

Mariah Carey released her Butterfly album at an interesting time in her life. She had just gotten divorced from her record executive husband of 4 years, and used this album as a statement of her independence and the start of a new chapter in her life and career.

Her albums up to this point were of a more pop sounding, adult contemporary nature, and were receiving huge airplay on radio stations. This time around, Mariah Carey decided to add a more R&B sound to her music, which works well for her. It also compliments many of the strongest tracks on this album. This would definately have to be my #1 album from Mariah Carey. I grew up listening to Vision Of Love, Love Takes Time, and I Don't Wanna Cry. I never get tired of hearing these songs. These songs are classic. When I listen to more songs from this album, it became my favorite. I just love her voice. Everytime I listen to her, it feels so empowering. I don't care if Leona Lewis can sing, she will never take Mariah's place! I put the star beside each song that I relate to.

1)Vision of Love-this song definately stands out the most. i didn't know that this song was really about the people who supported her. her vocals are great!!! 5/5

2)There's Got to Be a Way-this songs talks about world issues. this song is very underrated. 5/5

Already an established pop phenomenon by 1993, no one thought Mariah Carey could top the success she had. But she proved naysayers wrong by releasing this album, which remains the most successful album of her career.

While nowadays her lyrics are more expressive of her feelings, at this time she used her vocals to show where her mindset was. Here she doesn't seem to use either, and for the only time thus far, Mariah Carey released material that sounds a lot like going through the motions. To date, this is probably her most impersonal album.

This is one of my fav Mariah albums. Released in 1991 right behind her very successful self titled debut record. Of course everyone's fav song EMOTIONS is always fun! Some of the very best on this CD are AND YOU DONT REMEMBER, MAKE IT HAPPEN, IF ITS OVER, & SO BLESSED, but my absolute Favorite is CANT LET GO. I think everyone would agree this song is just timeless and great all around. It is to me one of the top 3 or 4 Mariah ballads! No one should be without Mariah Carey's 2nd album, EMOTIONS !
