There's very little I can add to the previous reviews except to say that this was the reason I bought a CD player years ago. More out of curiosity than anything else, I happened to pick up a copy of "Louis Prima: the Capitol Collectors Series" in its audiocassette format back in the early Nineties. Let me assure you, this is Prima at his best, during the wild and swinging Fifties, when his was "THE" act to see in Las Vegas. From the opening number, "Just A Gigolo," I was hooked. There isn't a single track (with the possible exception of "Beep! Beep!") that I didn't enjoy. The man was a master at his craft. Rock and roll may have its rythmical roots in the blues, but its freedom had to come from the madness of musicians like Prima!

Wildest

Listening to the Wildest brought back many childhood memories. My dad and I used to sing along with all of Louis Prima's songs. One of our team favorites was "A Banana Split for My Baby". Louis' music is fun and happy and the group always sounded like they enjoyed what they were playing. I've already started sharing some of the songs with my grandchildren. Hopefully, it will be passed on to another generation!

I got this CD for two things Hey ba ba re bop and My Cucuzza. My mom had these songs on a 45. We played it so much the 45 broke! We know all the words and sang them all the time. When my parents had their 50th wedding anniversary and we had a big family party, we got this CD to play. What a sing-along that was. Louie Prima is so electric. You can't be sad or sit still. Just buy this CD. You won't be sorry.

The Music of Disney: A Legacy in Song

I have this collection on cassette and I plan to buy the CD's. I love this set because it spans the history of Disney's wonderful songbook of music. Where else can you hear the Swamp Fox theme or Sean Connery singing Pretty Irish Girl? I am a total Disney fan and I would recommend this set to anyone who loves Disney or wants to show their kids Disney's amazing history in song. The one drawback is that it does not include the music from the last decade or so...but, that's okay because there are several good Disney CD's out there that do. Ultimate Disney volumes 1-3 actually. I think that is what it is called...Anyway, such a great variety of music here.

Louis Prima and Keely Smith were a seemingly odd couple act who worked astonishingly well together on the Vegas strip and in other venues as well. This CD gives us the reasons why. Their voices are strong, vibrant and full of positive energy; and they can harmonize so well it stuns me.

The CD opens with "Night And Day;" the musical arrangement makes good use of the percussion and horns; the arrangement also plays with the tempo somewhat to give this a sprightly flavor. Louis Prima and Keely Smith's voices project warmth and passion on this number. The horns and percussion work well again for the arrangement of "All I Do Is Dream Of You;" Louis and Keely use their personal chemistry as lovers in real life to give this duet extra punch and depth, too.
