it has all the movie music...almost to much really as it includes the little video music and interlude/intro music...but really a great listen peppy and uplifting

I have the utmost respect for Liz Phair, who has great lo-fi guitar chords and a low alto voice that's blunt and righteously grumpy. On the other hand, though, her frank sex talk disturbed me almost too much.

Notice that I said "almost." This is a great low-key album, with a cool downbeat guitar rhythm in "6'1"." Phair knows how to play great guitar rhythms, and from "Help Me Mary" to "Divorce Song," Phair probably has a cooler sense of Southern rock than Sheryl Crow. And Phair has a great sense of humor, singing bluntly in "Divorce Song" that "it's harder to be friends than lovers/And you shouldn't try to mix the two/'Cause if you do it and you're still unhappy/Then you know that the problem is you."

Very disappointed. Heard her on NPR and she seems to be getting a bit desperate as her career progresses. Album has 2 good classic Phair tunes other than that she sounds like a whiner. As a women, I would say grow up- if you even start going down the Allanis Morrosette road- Don't, you would be a sell-out and let us all down as women. Who cares- you like sex!!!!!

This is far and away my favorite Liz album - "Polyester Bride" is one of the best tracks she has ever done, and with songs about being beaten around ("but I liked it, yeah I liked it more and more"); this is the classic mixing of early brash indie Liz and her later pop leanings.

Poor Liz Phair, she can never have an album before or after Exile to Guyville that will approach its excellence. This album has many good songs and is nice enough to listen to, but few of the songs are extraordinary, and some start to sound the same.

I remember this from way back, but the songs aren't like I remember them to have been. I have to skip tracks alot to keep from going insane! All in all, there's still about 5 songs that I really love on the CD.

I read all 13 reviews and I did not even see the work Outkast. This is by far one of the highlights of the album. The whole thing is good but if you are an Outkast fan this is a must have just for the one song by them.

As much as I like Liz Phair, I could not recomend shelling out the bucks for this disc unless you just have to get anything she's ever released. The title song is great, but if you're a fan, you already have it. The edited version deletes the song's only expletive, so you're not really missing anything. "combo-platter" is a fairly lack-luster song from the rather lo-fi girly-sound tapes that really doesn't do the girl justice anyway. If you're buying it just for "combo-platter", do yourself a favor and try to track down a bootleg copy of girly-sound.
