Many of my friends have an aversion to singer-songwriter Lenny Kravitz. I find this curious, considering his ability not only to blend retro garage-rock, soul, funk, reggae, and psychedelic sounds, but because of his multi-talented ability to play guitar, bass, drums, keyboards, and percussion on his albums. To his critics, I say keep an an open mind and give Kravitz's eighth studio album, It Is Time for a Love Revolution, a try. It reveals his gifted proficiency as a singer-songwriter-musician. Let Love Rule

Just pure honest rock n roll brimming with passion. The title track is just stunning. I Built This Garden For Us is another standout track. Although much of the music is hard rock there are some nice softer toned pieces like Sitting On Top of the World. Much commentary about the prejudice Mr. Kravitz as faced. Just listen to Does Anybody Really Care?, Fear, and Mr. Cab Driver.

An awesome debut on all levels.

I'm going to take a different approach to reviewing albums on Amazon. Instead of going in depth on each album and describe each album in detail, i'm going to simply rate each album with how many stars I feel each album is worth based on the below criteria. I hope this helps you make a better decision on purchasing this album with a simple individual rating. If it doesn't help read another review.
5 stars- Classic, Album goes beyond description, Perfect in every way, Could remind you of a certain time or place, Lifetime replay value.
4.5 stars- Near Classic, Incredible album, Maybe only one song that is skippable or just overall doesn't quite deserve classic status. High replay value.

This of course is roughly just his previous "Greatest Hits" album, plus a DVD of some of his videos. The "Hits" disc was great before, but now it also includes "Dig In" and "Where Are We Runnin'?", which represents his past two albums. I could have swapped an existing track or two myself at the same time, but it is a "hits" disc, and not a "best of". The bigger bonus is the videos. Basically we get one video from each album, but none from "Let Love Rule" or "Circus" which is too bad. Still, this collection is alot more Lenny than it was, hence I'll probably end up buying this once "Again".

In the mid 1990s, I heard a concert promotion radio ad that was basically introducing the performer to be "The World's Greatest Rock and Roll Star". When they announced that star to be Lenny Kravitz, I must admit, I nearly drove off the road when I heard that. I had realized Kravitz had some commercial success and had a nice following, but "World's Greatest Rock and Roll Star"? - come on! However, now about a decade later, as I have begun to get a deeper appreciation for what Rock music has to offer, I now realize that perhaps there is some real merit to that radio ad. Baptism

This cd can be had for less than a dollar used...what are you waiting for. If you can not afford a $1 for this album than you dont appreciate great music.

Put this cd on while you drive to work and I gurantee that you will start moving to the music and just when you are ready to wail a primal scream Lenny will bring you back down to earth with something nice and slow.

Needless to say this album is not his most known work, but I feel that it is just as good as anything else he has done. Like I said in my first line, pay the $1 or you just dont appreciate good rock n roll.

One night, in Austin Texas, I happened upon the Saxon pub, where the music pulsated loudly onto the parking lot. This was a rocking night, and surely another great band was pumping away inside. I quickly paid my way in.
A guitar playing friend spotted me and began to comment enthusiastically in my ear but I ignored him: the Dan Dyer Band had entered my life.
I cannot find words to describe the impact that first performance had on me. After the show, Dan and I exchanged cd's, and rarely are cd's that you pick up after a great show able to capture the atmosphere where you just came from.
This cd did. I blasted it full volume all the way home.
I went to see Dan on many subsequent occasions, and even on off nights he and the band were simply great.
