Remember That I Love You

by: Kimya Dawson

Release Date May 09, 2006
I can assume that I am one of many that hadn't heard of Kimya Dawson until Juno, and "Remember That I Love You" features most of the songs she contributed to the soundtrack. I expected that these songs would all be the standouts, and though Loose Lips is possibly still the best song on the album with a catchy-as-hell chorus and cheery tune, the whole album is strong start to finish.

I'm usually one to go for punk, hardcore, metal and the like, but the fact that this is acoustic and more pop than the Moldy Peaches wasn't a factor - I enjoyed especially "My Mom", "Underground" and "I Like Giants", as well as Tire Swing, Loose Lips and the full version of My Rollercoaster, which even features a little Metallica reference.

Hidden Vagenda

by: Kimya Dawson

Release Date October 05, 2004
i don't really get the whole friendship concept. what do friends do? talk to each other? hold each other and cry when they're sad? sounds boring. every once in a great while however, i do come across an artist who just seems like they would be fun to know. like you would want them for a friend. kimya dawson is one such person. weird and wonderful, ms dawson does something here that is almost impossible anymore: she is a complete original. and so entertaining that religious fanatics would probably want her outlawed. she has a way all her own with both words and music. on first listen she became one of my favorite songwriters of all-time. thanks a ton ms dawson, this album is my best find of 2007.

I'm Sorry That Sometimes I'm Mean

by: Kimya Dawson

Release Date January 25, 2005
One of the earlier CD's from Kimya Dawson, recently featured on the Original Motion Picture Soundtrack for the movie Juno. Very indie, (alternative/anti-)folky, quirky and clever. A nice change of pace from the cookie-cutter sound of today's recent mainstream. I love it! Play it loud in your car while you drive around with the windows down, and see what kind of strange looks people give you!

Knock-Knock Who?

by: Kimya Dawson

Release Date August 03, 2004
I was disappointed is this recording, compared to Kimya's others. (esp. "Remember That I love You") Her unique, honest, from the heart lyrics seem to be missing here. The quality of the recording stinks. Most of the songs are so whispery soft they can't be heard, then a few are screechy loud. Not easy to listen to. I'm a Kimya fan, but I consider this CD is a waste of money and time.

I'm Sorry That Sometimes I'm Mean

Release Date November 05, 2002
Believe it or not I am a 55-year-old, happily-married mother of two who has never even heard of the Moldy Peaches. But I love this album!! My son played the album for me. At first, the music was almost painful to listen to. Kimya's fragil voice was so exposed and vulnerable, and the mix of sounds seemed wincingly "unprofessional". Then it seemed quirky and funny, as I focused on the Talking Ernest and PeeWee song. I began to be intrigued by her juxtaposition of nursery rhymes with pain and truth; of TVland with tenderness and death. I played the CD several times while on a long drive home. I was hooked. The album has all the poignancy of a mother singing lullabies to her baby and all the edge of a well-honed knife. If you don't buy the album, at least ... Read More:
