I wanted a good collection of Kenny Rogers music to use for my DJ service. The only disc that I had was full of lousy re-recordings. In my mind, if they are not the original recordings that actually became hits, then they are worthless to me. I read all of the mixed reviews here on Amazon regarding this collection, but decided to take a risk and purchase it. I have listened to the full collection 3 times in full. Many reviewers are saying that this collection is full of re-recordings, but that is not true. These ARE the original hit recordings. This is a great, quality collection. In many of my CD reviews I belabor the point regarding what constitutes an artist's "greatest" or "best" hits, offering up the argument that, to most fans out there, the term denotes those songs that made the national singles charts, whether the Billboard Pop Hot 100, Adult Contemporary (AC), R&B or Country. Now, sifting through the 2- and 3-star reviews for this release I see there are some who beg to differ. In the 2-star assessment the reviewer states flat out that these are "not Kenny's best" while in one of the 3-star reviews it states "... did not contain what I would call his greatest hits .... some of them never appeared high in the charts."

Magic Tree House: The Musical

My 7 and 4 year old love this CD. We've had it about 3 weeks and it's all they listen to. They have the songs memorized. My 7 year old and I are going to see the Musical this weekend. Should be great since we already enjoy the music. Hope they turn more of the books in to musicals. We'd would buy them for sure.
