Hopes and Fears

This is a different album from their second one, with a sound that's slower, with more ballads than Under the Iron Sea.

Since I haven't paid exact attention to some tracks, I'll do a "key lyrics" type review - with my favorites on the album, which are quite a few.

Somewhere Only We Know - the single. This song is midtempo, but has emotional lyrics which can make an effect on you later in life. Great for those who like to "escape the world" and stay in a little hideout that "only you know".
Key lyric: "I walked across, a fallen tree, I felt the branches are they looking at me? Is this the place, we used to love, is this the place that we've been dreaming of?"

Under the Iron Sea

Keane is a favorite band of mine, so this review is going to be totally and unabashedly biased. (As if my other reviews aren't.) If you're trying to get a feel for what Keane is like, maybe this can help: They're a little bit of Coldplay, a little bit of U2, and a whole lotta original.

Their sound is just...completely innovative, and yet classic. If you're looking for shallow, fluffy lyrics, please go elsewhere. Every song has a purpose on the album--and a deep, sometimes dark, meaning--and not one of them disappoints. I highly recommend, and urge anyone who loves good music to discover this band for themselves. Just when you think Keane can't get any better, they do. A Day to Remember - Instrumental Music for Your Wedding Day

I purchased this CD for my 78 yr old mother, a widow, who is getting remarried this Sept. and needed some recorded music to play before the ceremony and for the processional and recessional. She absolutely loves the CD and plays it over and over and over! It is a beautiful CD and I would highly recommend it for anyone needing this type of music.

Beyond the Sky

This is the third album that I purchased done by Brian Keane and Omar Faruk Tekbilek and it is the best yet!!! Relaxing and mysterious it is something I would recommend for someone who is tired of listening to the same old jazz or rock and roll. SUPER!!

Suleyman The Magnificent: Original Soundtrack

This music is cheerful and uplifting. Heard it on the radio over 12 years ago and finally tracked it down with Amazon. Recommend it to anyone who likes unusual music for a change of pace. Check out the other albums from Brian Keane and Omar Faruk Tekbilek, they are fantastic. Get them all.

Somepeople tend to compare KEANE with Coldplay. I could say KEANE is somehow inspired by Coldplay but in no way it is a B class Coldplay. This is a masterpiece debut wich contains some songs that qualifies as perfect 4 minute pop songs such as Somewhere Only We Know and Everybody's Changing. A interesting fact is that in this album there are NO GUITAR. With is great because I rather have an excellent piano playing all over than a mediocre guitar as a merely filler. The voice is so fine, so polished, so relaxing that this is a perfect album to listen to while driving, while spending time with your significant other, in the pre sleep hours or in the first hours of the morning.
