With one of the best starting sequences I've ever in any album, I was excited about transitions 4. However, the truth is there is nothing worth writing home about beyond track 3 (which is absolutely delicious, I may add). What a shame, after that opening.
Release Date January 13, 1998
I bought this after I was blown away by Xpander back in 98 or so and I can recall not really being impressed at the first listen.
As time went on and you give it more listens, you can't helpt but get captivated by what these guys are able to create. All the textures you hear (esp with headphones) are amazing and the way the tracks all build on each other is awesome. My favorite build up is track 6 and track 7 (Spooky's Little Bullet) they come together like a single track.
Only thing that sucks is when i try to introduce something like this to others, it flies past a lot of people! Might be better to get them in slightly altered states to more effectively pull them in.

While some long-time DJs are now releasing mix CDs years apart, John Digweed continues to fulfill his promise of a "Transitions" disc twice a year or so. With TRANSITIONS VOL. 3, however, he even gives us two CDs. The Transitions mix is still a single disc, but the bonus CD has a 25-minute extended remix of a Bedrock track. Those who follow Digweed's Kiss 100 radio programme will know generally what to expect here. While the first installment of the Transitions series disappointed me with banal track selection and little development, Digweed has clearly returned to form.
Much of the hype surrounding the release of the mix was due to its inclusion of Sasha's "Coma" as its opening track. While "Coma" is an okay tune, it's no "Xpander" or "Wavy Gravy". ... Read More:

Two years after the original, Sasha and John Digweed are back with Northern Exposure: Expeditions.
"Space Manoeuvres" by Stage One sets the overall theme of this two disc set. Overabundant spacey trance tracks fill up most of both discs. For this reviewer's taste, it can get a little tiresome for an entire disc, let alone two of them. I am not that impressed with this album, especially when compared to the quality of the original.
Release Date July 22, 1997
Hiya guys! (and gals)... Northern Exposure - I felt compelled to write a review on this Amazon.Com website after reading some funny reviews about what you all make of it. Indeed, English and American dance music have changed dramatically over the past decade.
So where do we start? Right were it was mixed; Chesson Road in London due to the labelling with Ministry of Sound. Under normal circumstances, this would have been produced 'up here' in the North, but Sasha (Alexander Coe, from Wales) and John Digweed (from Hastings) worked with MoS for this one.
If you are aware of the album "Renaissance: The Mix Collection" from 1994, then you'll no doubt know who Sasha and Digger's are. Both were residents of a night called 'Renaissance' at a club called ... Read More:

At the time of writing this review, I'd have to say that the first installment of John Digweed's Transitions series edges out as my favorite (although I've yet to hear Vol. 4).
Transitions Vol. 1 features some of the finest mixing and editing on any commercial set I've listened to, and this is the album's strongest element in my opinion. The tracks themselves are pretty good but there are a few ho-hum selections scattered throughout the set and the album can sound a tad monotoneous on the first couple of run-throughs.
I found that the true complexity and experimentation of the mix and each of the individual tracks could only appreciated while using a good pair of high quality headphones. There are just too many suttle sounds and swift programming which ... Read More:

I bought this album along with Transitions Vol. 3 just because I was curious. I'm glad I did because this album is a classic! Both disks are exceptional and this whole album is indeed a great value.
Release Date October 03, 2000
John Digweed is featured for the first time on Global Underground's sixth commercial release, GU006: Sydney.
This compilation is very beloved by the majority of Digweed's massive fan base. It was actually released as the first Global Underground (GU001) on the United States as a "non-import".
I really think Digweed should stick to single disc commercial compilations. I repeatedly find that one disc (usually disc 1) of a two disc set is very good, full of depth with good diverse track selection. The second disc always sounds relatively familiar to another second disc from another album of his.
Disc 1 of this compilation is really good. Surprised? About half an hour into this set, it gets phenomenal right on through.
Release Date February 07, 2006
I was hoping for live performances and most of it is just following them around talking. Thought I was going to get good music and scenes from awesome parties but nope.
Release Date February 06, 2007
"Transitions" The name of the series defines its nature best. Digweed's utter mastery of the turntables is on full display. From the first eerily beautiful tracks to the last emotionally inducing crescendo digweed does what he does best. Unlike transitions vol.1 which waited several tracks to really start kickin digweed lets the beats roll hard within the first few tracks. What ultimately defines this album is the brilliant programming. Every track seems to easily slide into one another. Like most accomplished prog house artists this album needs several listens to fully absorb. However if you enjoy hard prog house this will certainly stay in your cd player for many months.
