Awful. Just awful. This just doesn't do justice to the originals. And the movie wasn't much better. People need to learn - you can't remake The Beatles.
You are going to want to experience this music again! Not only does it sound wonderful, it plays better than it did originally. It will take you back and clear away the cobwebs to memories you may have forgotten.
Release Date October 18, 2005
I saw this show live in Philadelphia, and must say that this newly remastered-bonus tracks issue is the closest thing to being there (sans bic lighter flicking, hazy air, etc.) I cannot remember whether the show was solo or if they opened for anyone (might have been Pink Floyd). The entire entourage was on stage- kids, pets, musicians, etc. This stands out as an amazing re-capture of one of the most high energy and passionate performances in history.

I bought "With a Little Help From My Friends" in '69 for 99ยข and I still play it. From "Feelin Alright" "Bye Bye Blackbird" "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood" "Do I Still Figure in Your Life" to "I Shall Be Released" I'm still trying to pick among three of the tracks to be played at my funeral. But,the addition of the 2 last tracks sucks. It's like adding an alternate ending to your favorite movie. Get if you must and you just have to have those 2 extra tracks, but I highly recommend buying the original version.

This is a great CD. Joe Cocker gives his all to each song, but my favorite is "The Moon is a Harsh Mistress." I've heard other versions but feel his voice tells the sadness of this song best. A great album.

This is one of the best live albums ever recorded. The first track which is called 'Introduction' and lasts 41 seconds tells you a lot. A punchy brass section, and a great drummer (either Jim Gordon or Jim Keltner) who drives everything along. Straight into track 2 which is a stonking cover of the Stones 'Honky Tonk Woman'. Joe Cocker sounds like he's singing through broken glass, and the band rock in way that few bands can these days.
Another reason why this album was such a success was the appearance of Leon Russell whose presence is felt throughout the album on Piano and Guitar. If you've ever seen the film of this tour you'll know that he virtually stole the show from everybody with his Top Hat and huge white beard (not so out of place in 1970!). ... Read More:

Joe Cocker deserves every bit of his fame as one of the truly great singers of all time. Any sign of a great singer/performer is when they can take someone else's songs and completely make them their own. Joe did this over and over again. In fact in most cases his versions of others people songs are more well known than the originals. Case in point would be his cover of Randy Newman's "You Can Leave Your Hat On."
This 2 disc "Gold" compilation collections blows away the single disc Ultimate Collection set which up until this set had been the best Joe Cocker compilation available.
The best part of Gold is that it covers his entire career from 1969 up through 2005 with his cover of U2's "One".
All of the songs are remastered in crystal ... Read More:

Joe Cocker has a really beautiful voice that's admittedly, not a voice everyone can get into. I think just about everyone would like his debut album. "Hitchcock Railway" is a good-time bluesy song with nice piano bits and female vocals backing up the main vocal melody. "She Came in Through the Bathroom Window" is another really nice song. Not as good as the Beatles song, though. "Delta Lady" is probably the highlight. Beautiful song. Great album overall.
