Joan Osborne has won me over again, this time as the singer of 70's soul covers and the writer of new songs to fall in love with. I strayed over to this looking for a wife gift, I tend to listen to more Jazz and Blues vocalists, yet I found her voice styling and her arrangements tight and complete. I can say proudly that my wife and I sang along with her on her covers of Kiss And Say Goodbye, Midnight Train To Georgia, Sara Smile, Break Up To Make Up and Kiss And Say Goodbye. And other than the overly maudlin Baby Is A Butterfly, Ms Osborne has given us a wonderful makeout album... oops cd.

Relish

The CD is a fine CD, but Amazon shipping has a lot to be desired. The case has one of the ears that work as hinges broken off. I thoroughly searched the sealed envelope the CD came in and it wasn't in it so it didn't happen in transit. The case was damaged before it was packaged, and the individual packing it or the person who broke it had to have known.

Seeing that Joan is one of my favorite female singers ever this collection is just what I needed. It is well constructed and all her top songs up until now are here. Extra kudos for the eco-friendly packing. I highly recommend this for any fans of her, from just knowing one song to owning every albumn.

How Sweet It Is

Now I love Joan, she can sing like a ringing a bell, but this album stinks. It's one thing to perform your take on a classic song, but these tracks are producer updated with fake drums and other instrumentation that doesn't fit the legacy of these songs. NG for no good.

I'm a fan, especially after seeing that amazing performance she had in Shadows of Motown.

This disc just has a great feel to it - if you like her voice, and like the r&b type sound, you'll love it.

Christmas Means Love

I just loved this CD! What I think I loved the most about it is the fact that it is something a little different than the "usual" Christmas stuff. Would highly recommend it to anyone searching for something that veers away from standard Christmas fare.

I heard a great rendition of "I'll Be Around" while in an Eddie Bauer Outlet store in Phoenix. The clerks could not tell me who the artist was, so I e-mailed Eddie Bauer, they couldn't help either. SO, I search the net especially Amazon.com to see if I could hear a snippet. Wouldn't you know,it was Joan Osborne. I then looked at her video for "Love's in Need of Love." It was great!! I discocvered the "One of Us" CD and it had several songs I like including that cover of "I'll Be Around" and "One of US." Highly recommend for a mellow mood.

Christmas Means Love

I always knew Joan had real singing pipes. This album proves it. Wonderfully produced (real and organic...not poppy production), this album delivers the best, and sometimes obscure, Christmas tunes out there. I hope she continues to do more material like this and stays away from the more poppy stuff like that G-D song. Thanks, Joan.
